Job Purpose

The Pipeline Engineer will develop practical and cost-effective engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle while supporting plant change management in response to operational and market requirements. The position provides pipeline engineering expertise across engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover. It also supports accurate implementation of pipeline document management and control systems.

Key Accountabilities

Pipeline Engineering and Design

• Ensure consultant and engineering contractor designs are submitted in accordance with the approved scope of work.
• Help ensure facilities delivered to end users are safe, reliable, operable and maintainable.
• Review and approve pipeline engineering drawings, specifications and other technical design documents in line with project plans and objectives.
• Develop cost-effective and value-added engineering solutions to improve project outputs.
• Carry out designs for in-house engineered works, including drawings, specifications, data sheets and bills of quantities.
• Provide engineering input required to support and implement plant change management.
• Apply relevant engineering codes, standards and inspection requirements to pipeline activities.

Project Engineering Support

• Provide technical expertise to project management activities throughout engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary engineering activities associated with pipeline project scopes.
• Ensure relevant company requirements are addressed across engineering interfaces.
• Participate in pipeline engineering projects, including review of tender packages.
• Witness commissioning activities where required.
• Follow up on the timely receipt of commissioning documentation, spares and manufacturers ' maintenance manuals.

Pipeline Operations

• Plan and direct pigging operations according to network availability.
• Prepare monthly pigging schedules.
• Liaise with Corrosion Section personnel regarding routine chemical injection and batch treatment programmes.
• Ensure corrosion-related activities follow applicable Corrosion and Inspection guidelines and operating procedures.
• Audit and review operating procedures and operating philosophies to assess the network 's capability to transport required throughput from fields to the terminal.

Engineering Documentation

• Establish preliminary pipeline route alignments and coordinate requirements with relevant pipeline departments.
• Manage engineering documentation associated with pipeline activities.
• Evaluate asset documentation to support implementation of the pipeline document management and control system.
• Maintain accurate engineering information required to support project and operational activities.

Supervision

• Plan, supervise and coordinate activities within the assigned area to achieve functional objectives.
• Provide appropriate guidance to assigned personnel.
• Train and develop staff in relevant technical skills to improve job proficiency and support functional requirements.

Minimum Qualification

• Bachelor 's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or a relevant professional qualification.

Minimum Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Minimum 6 years of experience in Pipelines Engineering.
• Knowledge of HSE requirements within plant and pipeline environments in a large industrial organization, preferably within the Oil and Gas industry.
• Sound knowledge of international pipeline, corrosion and cathodic protection engineering standards and codes.
• Comprehensive understanding of pipeline industry practices and relevant technology trends within Oil and Gas.
• Good understanding of engineering disciplines, risk management and loss prevention techniques.
• Working knowledge of design, manufacturing, metallurgy and welding.
• Knowledge of standards and legislation associated with plant and equipment inspection.
• Familiarity with QA/QC systems and procedures.
• Technical ability to interpret engineering codes, standards and inspection methods.
• Knowledge of HSE procedures and practices.
• Ability to plan, organize, schedule, coordinate, check, examine and record engineering activities.
