Job summary

SteerAI is seeking a Perception Engineer to join the GROUND Robotics team in Abu Dhabi. You will maintain and evolve the CoreX perception stack, enabling reliable object detection, segmentation, and LiDAR-based understanding across platforms.

You will write clean C++ within ROS1/ROS2, calibrate sensors, test in real-world conditions, and collaborate with localization and planning teams to ensure seamless integration and high performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Vision, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in real-time perception or computer vision systems.
• Strong programming skills in C++, with ROS1/ROS2 experience.
• Proficiency with OpenCV, PCL, Open3D, PyTorch, and TensorRT.
• Experience with sensor calibration, obstacle detection, LiDAR filtering.
• Familiarity with LiDAR and cameras as sensor modalities.
• Experience with Git, Docker, Jenkins.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve CoreX perception: object detection, segmentation, multi-object tracking, and LiDAR terrain understanding.
• Extend and adapt the perception system for new robotics platforms and deployment scenarios.
• Develop clean, modular, and efficient C++ code aligned with ROS1/ROS2 standards.
• Collaborate with localization, planning, and controls teams for integration and performance.
• Conduct field testing and iterative tuning of perception features in real-world conditions.
• Contribute to code reviews and maintain detailed technical documentation for system components.
