Job summary

SteerAI is seeking a Senior Perception Engineer to join the Ground Robotics team. This role involves taking technical ownership of core perception features within the CoreX autonomy stack, and delivering robust, real-time perception for diverse ground platforms and missions.

You will write high-performance C++ code with ROS1/ROS2, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with localization, planning and controls to ensure reliable perception in real-world conditions and deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Vision, or related field.
• 7+ years of real-time perception or autonomy system experience.
• Expert C++ with ROS1/ROS2 and robotics middleware.
• Proficiency with PCL, Open3D, OpenCV and DL stacks.
• Experience with transformer-based models and real-time edge inference.
• Experience with LiDAR and advanced camera sensing; multi-sensor fusion.
• Embedded deployment on ARM64 platforms (NVIDIA Jetson).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize core perception features for real-time use.
• Own one or more CoreX perception components from concept to production.
• Develop high-performance C++ code following ROS standards.
• Lead complex integration with localization, planning, and controls.
• Design and execute field validation and testing plans.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide best practices.
• Contribute to architectural discussions ensuring fit with CoreX.
