Job summary

Great Plains Health is seeking a Cost Estimator to build pre-service patient cost estimates for outpatient clinics, using a centralized work queue and EHR templates. The role includes reviewing appointment reports, verifying insurance eligibility, and coordinating patient access activities.

The incumbent will document defects, analyze estimate trends, and support process improvements within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Ability to sit constantly and stand/walk frequently.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Build pre-service patient cost estimates for outpatient clinics from a centralized work queue.
• Review daily appointment reports to identify patients qualifying for cost estimates.
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits using electronic tools and third-party websites.
• Build cost estimates within the electronic health record using correct templates and fee schedules.
• Identify and document system, template, or payer-related defects and escalated issues.
• Analyze estimate volume, accuracy, and payer trends to identify performance improvement opportunities.
• Coordinate patient access activities including phone calls, scheduling, registration, and referral management.
