Job summary

Clyde & Co. Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Associate to join its busy practice. The role focuses on upstream drilling, oilfield services, and development of oil & gas assets, supporting national oil company clients across the Middle East.

The successful candidate will work with Partners and senior lawyers on complex non-contentious matters, including procurement, supply chain, and front-end contracting, with exposure to major energy projects and significant transactional work.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), or equivalent.
• Strong academic credentials; excellent written and verbal communication.
• A proactive, self-driven approach to work.
• Experience in an international, regional or specialist energy law firm or in-house team.
• Strong exposure to oil and gas: upstream, drilling or oilfield services.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
• Exposure to procurement and supply chain in oil & gas or energy sectors.
• Experience with day-rate rig hire, drilling and well services, EPC/EPCIC/EPCM, FEED, BOOT or PMC.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and commercial skills.
• Excellent time management and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration, plus ability to work independently.
• Strong commercial awareness; ability to build client relationships with Partners.
• Ability to lead and delegate while fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to work with senior stakeholders and clients.
• Direct experience across listed contracts is beneficial rather than essential.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on upstream oil and gas projects and commercial arrangements.
• Draft and negotiate complex commercial contracts in oil & gas.
• Review, draft and negotiate procurement and supply chain agreements.
• Manage front-end development of oilfield assets, infrastructure and facilities.
• Assist with EPC/EPCIC/EPCM, FEED, BOOT, PMC contracts and related agreements.
• Support contracting and procurement lifecycle for clients.
• Collaborate with Partners and senior lawyers in a busy oil & gas practice.
