Job summary

VaporVM in Dubai is seeking a skilled Network Engineer with 3 years of hands-on experience focused on switching. You will design, configure, and maintain the LAN switching infrastructure and collaborate with senior engineers on upcoming upgrades.

The ideal candidate holds a CCNA certification, understands VLANs, trunking, STP/RSTP/MSTP, EtherChannel, and basic routing. You will provide L1/L2 support, maintain accurate documentation, and participate in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 3 years of hands-on network engineering experience focused on switching.
• CCNA certification mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of VLANs, trunking, STP/RSTP/MSTP, and EtherChannel.
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst switches; exposure to HP/Aruba, Juniper is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, implement, and maintain LAN switching infrastructure across the organization.
• Configure VLANs, trunking (802.1Q), STP/RSTP/MSTP, EtherChannel, and inter-VLAN routing.
• Perform switch port configuration, security (port security, DHCP snooping, dynamic ARP inspection).
• Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve switching-related issues.
• Troubleshoot Layer 2 issues including loops, broadcast storms, and connectivity failures.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, including topology diagrams and configuration backups.
• Perform firmware/software upgrades on switches and other network devices.
• Collaborate with senior network engineers on network expansion and upgrade projects.
• Ensure network security best practices are followed at the switching layer.
• Provide L1/L2 support and elevate complex issues as needed.
• Participate in on-call rotation for network support, as required.

The ideal candidate holds a valid CCNA certification and has strong practical knowledge of configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise switching environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3 years of relevant experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on switching.
• CCNA certification (mandatory).
• Solid understanding of:
  • VLANs, Trunking, STP/RSTP
  • EtherChannel/LACP
  • Layer 2/Layer 3 switching concepts
  • Basic routing protocols (OSPF, static routing) — added advantage
• Hands‑on experience with Cisco switches (Catalyst series preferred); exposure to other vendors (HP/Aruba, Juniper) is a plus.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Wireshark, etc.).
• Basic understanding of network security concepts (ACLs, port security).
• Good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Exposure to data center switching / campus network design.
• Knowledge of network automation basics (Python scripting, Cisco DNA Center).
• Experience with wireless networking fundamentals.
• ITIL awareness for incident/change management processes.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
