Musical Theatre Teacher (Drama)

Reporting To

Head of Musical Theatre Department

Purpose of the Job

To provide inspiring, creative, and dynamic classes that instill a love of performance and the tools for students to develop their skills and technique. The role involves creating class plans, developing the full‑year plan with the MT department, assisting with LAMDA exam sessions, managing musical theatre productions, arranging competition pieces, and continually building on the department’s achievements.

Key Accountabilities

• Confidence and experience in working with students on script work, stage direction, stagecraft/movement, and performance.
• Research and develop new teaching ideas for Musical Theatre, staying updated with industry trends and best practices.
• Explore new repertoire and performances suitable for students.
• Develop and deliver innovative projects for solo and group performances in collaboration with other departments.
• Adhere to departmental standards.
• Teach as appropriate and by agreement with the Principals.
• Assist with annual Musical Theatre shows, researching new material and conducting performances as required.
• Undertake administrative duties regarding parent‑teacher communication and assist in the organisation of examinations.
• Carry out any other duties that align with the scope and spirit of the job and the ethos of Diverse, as requested by the Principals and the Head of Department.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 2+ years of teaching experience.
• Professional performing background preferred but not essential.
• Experience providing private singing lessons tailored to prepare students for LAMDA Musical Theatre exams.
