Job summary

GEMS Metropole School in Dubai is seeking a Performing Arts Teacher to deliver engaging drama lessons and guide students through acting, movement and script interpretation. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress, engagement and development.

Performing Arts Teacher - Drama

The Performing Arts Teacher in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is an education management opportunity for an inspiring educator who can deliver engaging lessons, build student confidence and encourage a lasting interest in performance.

Location: Dubai, UAE. Salary: AED 12,000–19,000 monthly. Full‑time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Performing Arts and Drama lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and teaching standards.
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson sequences, practical activities and assessment tasks.
  • Teach acting, improvisation, characterisation, movement, voice, script interpretation and performance skills.
  • Create an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel confident participating and expressing ideas.
  • Use varied teaching methods to engage students with different abilities, interests and learning needs.
  • Differentiate activities to provide suitable support, challenge and progression.
  • Encourage creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, communication and independent learning.
  • Establish clear expectations for behaviour, rehearsal discipline, teamwork and safe participation.
  • Assess student learning through practical performances, observations, written tasks, reflection and ongoing feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of attainment, progress, participation and intervention.
  • Use assessment results to improve lesson planning and address individual learning gaps.
  • Provide clear and constructive feedback that supports artistic and academic development.
  • Prepare students for performances, showcases, assemblies and school productions.
  • Lead or support auditions, casting, rehearsals, staging and production preparation.
  • Coordinate performance requirements such as scripts, props, costumes, sound, lighting and rehearsal schedules.
  • Contribute to extracurricular Drama clubs, enrichment programmes and performance activities.
  • Collaborate with Music, Art, English, Media and other departments on cross‑curricular projects.

  • Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, school leaders and families.
  • Participate in departmental planning, curriculum review, moderation meetings and professional development.
  • Support school events, community engagement and wider cultural initiatives.
  • Remain current with developments in Drama education, performance practice and creative teaching methods.
  • Promote respect, inclusion, confidence, resilience and responsible creative expression.
  • Follow safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and school compliance procedures.

Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts, Drama, Theatre Studies or a related subject.
  • Recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, PGDE, QTS or an equivalent credential.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Drama and the Performing Arts.
  • Experience delivering practical, creative and student‑centred lessons.
  • Commitment to high‑quality teaching, continuous improvement and raising student achievement.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and engage students with different levels of experience and confidence.
  • Effective classroom management and lesson organisation skills.
