Job summary

Gulf News seeks a Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineer with CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent to lead inspection and QA/QC activities on offshore/onshore oil and gas projects in the UAE. You will review documents, witness welding and NDT, and ensure compliance with ASME, API, AWS, and ISO codes.

You will coordinate with EPC contractors, prepare weekly/monthly inspection reports, manage non-conformances, and ensure material certificates and ITPs are approved.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.
• CSWIP 3.1 or AWS, CWI or ERS welding inspection cert desirable.
• BGAS Level 2 or NACE Level 1 certification recommended.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in onshore and offshore oil and gas/ petrochemical.
• Experience in review and approval of multidiscipline ITPs, procedures, NCRs and QA/QC docs.
• Very good English language for technical reports and QA/QC documentation.

Job description

Understanding the requirements of Vendor / Manufacturer’s Quality System requirements.
Review and verification of Manufacturer / Vendor documents as per Purchase Orders, Material
Specifications as per relevant codes and project specifications.
Carryout Material Receiving Inspection of all permanent Project Material by EPC Contractor.
Witness verify and endorse Procedure and Welders qualification.
Review and approval of Inspection & Test Plans.
Review and approval of material certificates.
Monitor, inspect and approve all welding including welding procedures and NDT works.
Monitor, review and approve all PWHT works.
Review of all radiographs/NDT reports.
Signing of weld / NDT log.
Inspection of Pressure vessels, Heat Exchangers, Pressurized piping and structural works during fabrication.
Witness Hydrostatic & Pneumatic testing.
Surface preparation, Painting & Insulation inspection.
Good understanding of Material control procedures and Material Preservation and storage procedures.
Familiar with International codes like ASME/ ANSI, API, AWS, BP, BS, ISO codes, ISO EN 1024 etc.
Raising Non-conformance reports and verifying Corrective & preventive actions on all project materials during receiving inspection.
Ability to prepare concise weekly and monthly inspection reports

Degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering. CSWIP 3.1 or AWS, CWI or ERS welding
inspection and PCN level II qualification is desirable and BGAS Level 2 or NACE Level 1
certification requirements.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in onshore and offshore oil and gas/ petrochemical
industry, third party inspection and verification of activities including Welding/ Process Piping/
Mechanical Equipment, Painting, Coating, Wrapping, Hydro testing and advance NDT methods
with ability to assess NDT procedures, experience in review and approval of multidiscipline ITPs,
procedures, site quires, NCR and concession requests.
Very good knowledge of spoken and written English language including writing of technical
reports / procedures and QA/QC documentation
Proven experience in liaising with EPC Contractors.
Computer literate and familiarity with codes ASME, AWS, API, DNV, ISO and BS.
