Qualifications

• Experience as a Spray Painter or Industrial Painter in steelworks or metal fabrication.
• Proficiency in surface preparation, masking, and coating inspection.
• Knowledge of epoxy, enamel and protective coatings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform spray painting on structural and fabricated steel components.
• Prepare surfaces through cleaning, sanding and paint preparation.
• Apply primer, topcoat and protective coatings as specified.
• Operate spray guns, airless machines and related equipment.
• Mix paints, thinners and hardeners per project ratios.
• Ensure paint thickness, even coverage and colour matching.
• Follow surface prep standards and coating specifications.
• Inspect finished surfaces for defects and perform touch-ups.
• Maintain tools and keep the workshop clean and safe.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Spray Painter with practical experience in steel fabrication, metal painting, industrial spray painting, and protective coating application. The candidate will be responsible for preparing metal surfaces, mixing paint, operating spray painting equipment, and applying paint and protective coatings to steel structures, fabricated steel components, metal products, and industrial metalwork according to project specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform spray painting, industrial painting, and metal painting on structural steel, fabricated steel components, metal structures, and metal products.

• Prepare surfaces by carrying out surface cleaning, sanding, grinding, dust removal, and paint preparation before painting.

• Apply primer, undercoat, topcoat, enamel paint, epoxy coating, and protective paint coatings as required.

• Operate and maintain spray guns, airless spray painting machines, paint compressors, and painting equipment.

• Mix paints, thinners, hardeners, and other coating materials according to the required paint specifications and mixing ratios.

• Ensure proper paint thickness, uniform coating, colour matching, smooth finishing, and paint coverage.

• Follow the required surface preparation standards, painting procedures, and coating specifications for steel and metal products.

• Inspect painted surfaces for paint defects, uneven coating, runs, sags, pinholes, and poor finishing, and carry out touch-ups when required.

• Perform touch-up painting, repainting, and finishing work on fabricated and installed metal components.

• Keep painting tools, spray guns, compressors, and the work area clean and properly maintained.

• Follow workshop safety procedures, PPE requirements, and paint handling guidelines while working with paints, solvents, and coatings.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Previous work experience as a Spray Painter, Industrial Spray Painter, Steel Spray Painter, Metal Painter, or Industrial Painter.

• Practical experience in steel structure painting, metal fabrication painting, industrial coating, and protective painting.

• Knowledge of spray painting equipment, paint mixing, surface preparation, primer application, and topcoat application.

• Ability to work with epoxy paint, enamel paint, industrial coatings, and anti-corrosion paint systems.

• Experience painting structural steel, metal frames, fabricated components, steel plates, handrails, and other metal products is preferred.

• Ability to identify painting defects and maintain good paint quality, coating consistency, and finishing standards.

• Candidates must be willing to work in a steel fabrication and metalworks workshop.
