Job summary

SAM Building Contracting (L.L.C) is seeking a capable MEP Coordinator/Draftsman in Dubai, UAE. You will assist the MEP Project Manager in planning, coordinating and monitoring project activities from commencement to completion, interpreting shop drawings and technical specs, and coordinating with consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years UAE/GCC experience in MEP coordination or drafting, strong AutoCAD skills, and familiarity

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Building Services Engineering, Drafting Technology or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist MEP Project Manager in planning, coordinating and monitoring project activities from start to finish.
• Review and interpret MEP shop drawings, coordination drawings, IFC drawings and technical specs.
• Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, site engineers and project teams for smooth execution.
• Track schedules, milestones, deliverables and resource allocation.
• Assist in resolving MEP coordination issues across Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing works.
• Monitor site progress and prepare periodic project progress reports for management.
• Organize and participate in coordination meetings and technical discussions.
• Prepare meeting minutes and ensure timely closure of actions.
• Coordinate submissions for shop drawings, material submittals, RFIs, method statements and approvals.
• Maintain project documentation and technical files in an organized manner.
• Follow up with procurement on material requirements and delivery schedules.
• Assist in tracking project costs, variations and change orders.
• Coordinate with QA/QC to ensure compliance with project standards.
• Liaise with planning engineers on schedules and progress.
• Support testing, commissioning and handover activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety requirements and company procedures.
• Act as communication link between site teams, consultants, clients and management.
• Prepare, review and modify MEP shop drawings and as-built drawings using AutoCAD.
• Coordinate MEP drawings with Architectural, Structural and Civil drawings to resolve clashes.
• Assist in preparing submissions for consultant approvals and approvals tracking.
• Ensure drawings are updated per site conditions and consultant comments.
• Coordinate with site engineers to verify drawing accuracy and constructability.
• Maintain drawing registers and document control for MEP drawings.
• Support BIM/RevIt coordination where applicable.
• Prepare as-built drawings and handover documentation on project completion.

• Ensure all MEP drawings are updated in accordance with site conditions consultant comments and approved revisions
• Coordinate with site engineers and subcontractors to verify drawing accuracy and constructability
• Maintain drawing registers and ensure proper document control of all MEP-related drawings and revisions
• Support BIM Revit coordination activities where applicable
• Prepare as-built drawings and handover documentation upon project completion

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Drafting Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of UAE/GCC construction experience in MEP Project Coordination and MEP Drafting.
• Previous experience as an MEP Draftsman, MEP Coordinator, or Technical Coordinator within the construction industry.
• Strong ability to read, interpret, prepare, and coordinate MEP shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is mandatory.
• Knowledge of Revit MEP and BIM Coordination will be an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems, construction methodologies, and project coordination processes.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience in MEP drafting and drawing coordination.
• Familiarity with BIM 360, Navisworks, and clash detection processes.
• Experience in preparing authority submission drawings for DEWA, DCD, DM, DDA, RTA, and other UAE authorities.
• Ability to review and coordinate MEP drawings with multidisciplinary teams during project execution.
