Job summary

NCO in United Arab Emirates seeks a Mechanical Inspector to ensure waterworks projects meet drawings, specifications, and HSE standards on site.

You will inspect pipelines, hydrants, valves, and fittings; review drawings/ITPs; raise NCRs; coordinate with third-party inspectors; and maintain records for audit and handover.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical inspection.
  • CSWIP / AWS / ASNT or equivalent inspection certifications are an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough site inspections of waterworks infrastructure including pipelines, fire hydrants, and mechanical installations to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Inspect mechanical installations such as valves, fittings, flanges, supports, and pressure-testing activities to verify workmanship and material conformance.
  • Prepare and submit HSE Observation Reports identifying unsafe acts and conditions; follow up on corrective actions with relevant parties.
  • Compile and submit Daily Inspection Reports documenting findings, non-conformances, and punch list status.
  • Inspect and verify material deliveries against submittals, certificates, and purchase orders before incorporation into works.
  • Review ITPs and Method Statements to plan inspection activities and ensure compliance.
  • Identify, document, and track non-conformances; raise NCRs and monitor close-out with QA/QC.
  • Coordinate with third-party inspectors and client reps during witness/hold points per ITP.
  • Maintain organized inspection records and quality documentation for audit and handover.

Job description

The Mechanical Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical works on waterworks infrastructure projects are executed in full compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable quality and HSE standards. The role involves continuous site surveillance, reporting, and coordination with the QA/QC and project management team to deliver a defect-free, safe, and code-compliant project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough site inspections of waterworks infrastructure including pipelines, fire hydrants, and associated mechanical installations to ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and applicable standards.
  • Perform detailed inspection of mechanical installations such as valves, fittings, flanges, supports, and pressure-testing activities to verify workmanship and material conformance.
  • Prepare and submit HSE Observation Reports identifying unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and near-misses on site; follow up on corrective and preventive actions with relevant parties.
  • Compile and submit comprehensive Daily Inspection Reports documenting inspection activities, findings, non-conformances, and status of outstanding punch list items.
  • Inspect and verify material deliveries to site against approved material submittals, mill certificates, and purchase orders to ensure conformity prior to incorporation into permanent works.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and Method Statements to plan and execute inspection activities effectively.
  • Identify and document non-conformances; raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and monitor close-out actions in coordination with the QA/QC team.
  • Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies and client representatives during witness points and hold points as stipulated in the ITP.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date inspection records, test reports, and quality documentation for audit and handover purposes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical inspection
  • Attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication; ability to work under pressure; self-motivated and deadline-oriented
  • CSWIP / AWS / ASNT or equivalent inspection certifications are an advantage
