Key Responsibilities
- Create realistic mechanical technician scenarios involving test preparation, instrumentation and failure diagnosis.
- Develop testing tasks based on laboratory, prototype, production or equipment troubleshooting environments.
- Define appropriate test setups according to the mechanical system, measurement objective and required data.
- Select realistic sensors, instruments and data acquisition methods for benchmark scenarios.
- Build technical datasets including test logs, sensor readings, calibration records and failure reports.
- Create CSV and spreadsheet data that reflects credible mechanical test behavior.
- Develop examples of sensor output containing trends, anomalies and fault indicators.
- Construct calibration datasets requiring interpretation of instrument accuracy, drift or measurement deviation.
- Define accurate technical solution pathways based on the available test evidence.
- Develop next-step recommendations following failure identification or abnormal test results.
- Design scenarios requiring technicians to distinguish equipment faults from instrumentation or measurement problems.
- Incorporate real-world constraints such as incomplete measurements, conflicting readings or operating limitations.
- Create detailed grading rubrics with 35 or more evaluation points where required.
- Define evaluation criteria covering test setup, instrumentation, data interpretation and diagnostic reasoning.
- Ensure grading standards distinguish technically sound troubleshooting from incomplete or generic responses.
- Document test procedures in a clear and operationally realistic format.
- Record expected observations, test outcomes and diagnostic findings for each scenario.
- Prepare realistic failure reports describing symptoms, evidence and probable causes.
- Create tasks involving prototype testing and mechanical performance validation where appropriate.
- Apply practical mechanical testing knowledge to ensure scenarios reflect actual professional complexity.
- Review sensor and data acquisition results for consistency with the mechanical conditions being represented.
- Validate that technical datasets contain realistic units, values, limits and trends.
- Identify appropriate troubleshooting sequences for different equipment or test failures.
- Develop scenarios requiring root cause identification based on multiple sources of technical information.
- Prepare PDF-based technical references and supporting test documentation where required.
- Ensure spreadsheets, logs and data files remain internally consistent and suitable for evaluation.
- Collaborate asynchronously with project teams to refine scenario realism and evaluation quality.
- Incorporate reviewer feedback while preserving technical accuracy and practical complexity.
- Maintain consistent quality across output-based assignments and required weekly submissions.
- Work independently in a remote environment while meeting agreed project standards.
Ideal Profile
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in mechanical testing, laboratory, production or technician environments is preferred.
- Associate Degree, technical diploma or relevant trade qualification is advantageous.
- Strong practical experience setting up mechanical tests and interpreting results.
- Hands-on familiarity with instrumentation, sensors and data acquisition systems.
- Experience working with calibration records and measurement verification.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical faults using test data, equipment behavior and technical observations.
- Strong understanding of sensor outputs, signal trends and abnormal data patterns.
- Experience with prototype testing or product validation is valuable.
- Ability to document test methods, observations and failure modes accurately.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capability.
- Familiarity with quality control and technical inspection processes.
- Comfortable working with CSV files, spreadsheets, PDFs and structured technical datasets.
- Ability to distinguish between mechanical, instrumentation and data-quality problems.
