Job summary

Target Engineering Construction Co. LLC seeks a Mechanical Draftsman (Piping) to support design, fabrication, construction and commissioning for Oil & Gas EPC projects in Abu Dhabi.

You will create detailed piping drawings, isometrics, GA layouts, and MTOs while ensuring compliance with standards. The role requires 4–6 years of piping/mechanical drafting experience, proficiency in AutoCAD/Plant 3D/CADWorx, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve design issues and support field

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience as Piping/Mechanical Draftsman.
• Mandatory experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Power Plant, or EPC projects.
• Proven experience preparing Piping Isometrics, Spool Drawings, GA Drawings, Equipment Layouts, As-Built Documentation, Pipe Routing Drawings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed piping layout drawings, isometrics, GA drawings, P&ID mark-ups, and as-built drawings.
• Develop equipment layouts, support details, spool drawings, and pipe routing drawings.
• Ensure drawings comply with ASME, API, ASTM and project standards.
• Generate Material Take-Offs (MTOs) from layouts and isometrics.
• Incorporate engineering changes into project documentation.
• Prepare piping sketches and fabrication drawings for site.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Draftsman (Piping) to support the engineering, fabrication, construction, and commissioning phases of major Oil & Gas EPC projects. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in preparing detailed piping drawings, layouts, isometrics, spool drawings, and as-built documentation while ensuring compliance with international standards and project specifications.

YOUR ROLE

As Draftsman (Mechanical), you will

Design & Drafting

• Prepare detailed piping layout drawings, isometric drawings, GA drawings, P&ID mark-ups, and as-built drawings.
• Develop equipment layouts, support details, spool drawings, and pipe routing drawings.
• Ensure all drawings comply with ASME, API, ASTM, and project-specific standards.
• Generate Material Take-Offs (MTOs) from piping layouts and isometrics.
• Incorporate engineering changes and revisions into project documentation.
• Prepare piping sketches and fabrication support drawings for site clarification.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate with Piping, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, and Instrumentation teams to resolve design clashes and optimize layouts.
• Support site engineers and supervisors by providing drawing updates and modifications.
• Participate in engineering review meetings to finalize routing and design requirements.
• Work closely with Procurement teams for material identification and MTO verification.

Construction & Site Support

• Provide accurate and updated drawings to support construction activities.
• Assist site teams in resolving drawing-related queries, RFIs, and technical clarifications.
• Conduct site visits as required to verify field conditions and obtain measurements.
• Support fabrication teams with spool drawings, weld maps, and dimensional details.

Quality & Documentation

• Ensure drawing accuracy, consistency, and technical compliance prior to submission.
• Maintain document control in accordance with company procedures.
• Prepare and update as-built drawings based on site mark-ups.
• Manage drawing revision control and ensure proper documentation.
• Adhere to QA/QC requirements, engineering standards, and company procedures.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Experience

• Must have 4 to 6 years of experience as a Piping/Mechanical Draftsman.
• Mandatory experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Power Plant, or EPC projects.
• Proven experience preparing: Piping Isometrics, Spool Drawings, General Arrangement (GA) Drawings, Equipment Layouts, As-Built Documentation, Pipe Routing Drawings.

Education and Certifications

• Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology, or Design Technology.
• Certification in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or CADWorx is preferred.
• Additional training in piping drafting or 3D modeling will be considered an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

Must have proficiency and knowledge of any of the following

• AutoCAD
• CADWorx
• MicroStation (preferred)
• Exposure to PDS or PDMS is an advantage
• Navisworks or similar clash detection software
• ASME, API, ASTM and industry standards
• Piping layouts and routing
• Fabrication and construction drawings
• Revision management and document control
