Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized mechanical apprenticeship program.
  • Possession of a Class 1 Mechanic certification or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a plant or industrial setting, preferably with container terminal.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

Responsibilities

Plant Workshop Mechanic Class 1, will be a key member of our maintenance team, specializing in mechanical systems and equipment within the plant workshop. This role involves hands‑on mechanical work, including maintenance, PMs, troubleshooting, and repair activities. The Mechanic Class 1 is responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficient operation of plant machinery, contributing to the overall success of the maintenance team.

  • Mechanical Maintenance for RS‑ECH‑ITVs Diesel and Electrical Forklift
  • Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on MEWS equipment
  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and longevity of mechanical systems.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
  • Identify and diagnose mechanical issues in plant equipment, utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Collaborate with team members and team leaders to address and resolve complex mechanical problems.
Equipment Upgrades and Modifications
  • Participate in equipment upgrades, modifications, and retrofitting projects under the guidance of senior team members.

Assist in implementing improvements to enhance the reliability and efficiency of plant machinery.

  • Work collaboratively with other maintenance professionals, including electrical technicians and engineers, to optimize overall plant equipment performance.
  • Provide assistance and support to team members during maintenance activities.
Safety and Compliance
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
  • Report any safety concerns or incidents promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of mechanical maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and equipment documentation.
  • Update and review equipment manuals, maintenance logs, and relevant documentation.
Tool and Equipment Management
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment used in mechanical maintenance tasks.
  • Report any faulty tools or equipment for replacement or repair.
  • Stay informed about new technologies and advancements in mechanical systems.

Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
