Job summary

Etihad Rail Operating Companies is seeking an Equipment Mechanic to maintain tampers and related railway equipment in line with manufacturer specifications. The role includes both on-site and workshop duties, with emphasis on preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and safe operation.

The candidate should have formal mechanical/electrical qualifications, a valid driving license (car & HGV), and be capable of working with PLCs, hydraulics, and diesel engines.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety for themselves, their team members and customers.
• Learn and comply with department procedures and safe systems of work.
• Proactively communicate plant faults to line manager.
• Plan and execute preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs on vehicles and equipment.
• Work on site and in the workshop/depot.
• Work under instruction of the Equipment Foreman.
• Minimize equipment downtime and production delays.
• Assess recurring faults and provide feedback and recommendations to the foreman.
• Prepared and willing to support business activities outside of normal working hours for breakdown response purposes.

Job description

The Equipment Mechanic maintains the equipment such as tampers, dynamic stabilizer, ballast distribution system, ballast regulators, sand removal machine, mobile flash butt welding machine, civil construction machinery, light/heavy road vehicle etc. in accordance with the manufacturer’s manuals and specifications.

Roles and Responsibility:

• Prioritize safety for themselves, their team members and the business customers at all times.
• Learn and comply with relevant department procedures and safe systems of work.
• Proactively ensure information regarding plant faults are communicated to line manager.
• Plan and executes preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs on all vehicles and related equipment.
• Works on site and in the workshop/depot.
• Works under instruction of the Equipment Foreman.
• Minimizes equipment downtime and delays to production.
• Assesses equipment reoccurring faults and provide feedback and recommendations to the foreman.
• Prepared and willing to support the business activities outside of normal working hours for break down response purposes.

Academic Qualifications:

• Formal mechanical/electrical technical qualifications.

Professional Capabilities:

• Recognized capability to maintain the above mentioned on-track and off-track vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledge of diesel engine diagnostic processes.
• Trouble shooting capabilities applied to hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of PLC boards and electrical drawings.
• Full driving license for cars and heavy goods vehicles.

Experience:

• Relevant industry experience.
• On track plant operation experience viewed favorably.
