Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, through its Applied Technology and Management (ATM) unit in Dubai, seeks a Marine Structural Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join its marine and geotechnical practice. The engineer will work on coastal structures, harbors, and waterfront projects, performing design, analysis, and investigations for private and public sector clients.

Requirements include a civil/structural engineering degree and proficiency with major structural software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering is required.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent.
• Experience with coastal and waterfront projects is preferred.
• Knowledge of Eurocode and British Standards is desirable.
• Strong technical writing skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Structural design for coastal and waterfront projects.
• Prepare foundation and pile design and ground improvement recommendations.
• Develop engineering solutions for complex structural/geotechnical problems.
• Coordinate with marine and geotechnical team on projects.
• Oversee waterfront structures and marine infrastructure projects.
• Design harbors, marinas, mooring and berthing structures, seawalls, breakwaters.
• Develop instrumentation monitoring systems.
• Prepare reports, calculations, drawings, specs, and permit applications.
• Attend client and regulatory meetings.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Structural design, coastal design, geotechnical investigation, and site layout;
• Prepare foundation and pile design as well as ground improvement recommendations;
• Developing engineering solutions to challenging structural and geotechnical problems and site conditions;
• Coordination and support with marine and geotechnical team on projects;
• Oversee waterfront structure and marine infrastructure projects;
• Design and engineering for a variety of areas such as harbors, marinas, vessel mooring and berthing structures, bulkheads and seawalls, breakwaters and shore protection structures, shoreline stabilization and sediment management;
• Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems;
• Small project/task management and proposal preparation support;
• Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications; and
• Attend meetings with clients and regulatory authorities.

Education and Licensure

• Bachelor's degree in civil and/or structural engineering. (required)
• Advanced degree in civil or structural engineering. (preferred)

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

• At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Experience with engineering structural analysis software such as AUTOCAD, SAP2000, HILTI, ALLPILE, STAAD Pro, MATLab, SWAN, SBEACH, MIKE21, and Plaxis. (2D/3D). (preferred)
• Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
• Familiarity with international structural design standards including Eurocode and British Standards. (preferred)
• Familiarity and experience on coastal and waterfront projects. (preferred)
