Job summary

1st-jobs.com is seeking a Male Diver for a client-based private company in Abu Dhabi. The role involves deep-water work with scuba gear to inspect, repair, or install equipment and structures, using a range of power and hand tools.

You will operate underwater video and sonar to examine underwater sites and perform salvage, cleaning, and repair tasks. Applicants must have at least 3 years as a watchman and hold a commercial diving certification, plus OSHA safety training.

Qualifications

• Good communication in English; Arabic is a plus.
• Commercial diving certification from an accredited program.
• OSHA 10 or 30-hour construction safety training.

Responsibilities

• Check and maintain diving equipment such as helmets, masks, air tanks, harnesses, and gauges.
• Communicate with surface workers underwater using signals or telephones.
• Cut and weld steel using underwater welding equipment, jigs, and supports.
• Descend into water with diver helpers using scuba gear or diving suits.
• Install, inspect, clean, and repair piping and valves.
• Operate underwater video, sonar, recording equipment to inspect structures or marine life.
• Perform underwater search, salvage, recovery, and cleanup operations.
• Set or guide placement of pilings and sandbags for docks, bridges, cofferdams, platforms.
• Adhere to safety procedures, monitor dive lengths/depths, and register with authorities.
• Take samples and photographs to assess vessel/structure condition.
• Remove rubbish and pollution from the sea.

Key Accountabilities:

• Check and maintain diving equipment such as helmets, masks, air tanks, harnesses, and gauges.
• Communicate with workers on the surface while underwater, using signal lines or telephones.
• Cut and weld steel, using underwater welding equipment, jigs, and supports.
• Descend into the water with the aid of diver helpers, using scuba gear or diving suits.
• Install, inspect, clean, and repair piping and valves.
• Obtain information about diving tasks and environmental conditions.
• Operate underwater video, sonar, recording, and related equipment to investigate underwater structures or marine life.
• Perform activities related to underwater search and rescue, salvage, recovery, and clean-up operations.
• Set or guide placement of pilings and sandbags to provide support for structures such as docks, bridges, cofferdams, and platforms.
• Take appropriate safety precautions, such as monitoring dive lengths and depths, and registering with authorities before diving expeditions begin.
• Take test samples and photographs to assess the condition of vessels and structures.
• Remove rubbish and pollution from the sea.
• Cultivate and harvest marine species and perform routine work on fish farms.
• Set up dive sites for recreational instruction.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
