Role Context
The Diver supports the safe operation, presentation, and maintenance of aquatic exhibits, lagoons, pools, and guest diving experiences across Atlantis Dubai. The position combines underwater maintenance, scuba equipment care, dive instruction, safety briefings, animal‑area support, emergency readiness, and accurate record‑keeping.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all operating procedures, safety requirements, and diving protocols contained in the Atlantis Dubai Dive Operations Manual.
- Maintain aquatic exhibits, lagoons, pools, and related environments above and below the water surface.
- Carry out underwater cleaning, inspection, maintenance, and operational support activities.
- Inspect scuba equipment regularly and keep diving gear in safe working condition.
- Report equipment defects, malfunctions, damage, or safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Maintain accurate personal dive logs and records for guests or colleagues receiving dive instruction.
- Conduct approved dive training and practical instruction for colleagues when required.
- Deliver clear pre‑dive briefings covering safety procedures, equipment use, emergency actions, conservation messages, and resort information.
- Provide guests with confident, engaging, and easy‑to‑follow underwater activity instructions.
- Support guest dive programs while maintaining safety, service quality, and established operating standards.
- Perform surface dive tender duties for colleagues working underwater.
- Act as a trained first responder during diving incidents, aquatic emergencies, or medical situations.
- Participate in regular rescue drills, first aid refreshers, swim assessments, and emergency‑response exercises.
- Assist with auxiliary underwater activities including animal feeding, sign holding, access gating, and special operational programs.
- Work safely near marine animals while respecting animal welfare procedures and specialist team instructions.
- Support the movement and handling of heavy diving, cleaning, and underwater maintenance equipment.
- Monitor conditions before and during diving operations and communicate any emerging hazards.
- Maintain a safe, secure, hygienic, and healthy environment for guests, colleagues, and animals.
- Keep current with PADI requirements, diving procedures, first aid practices, and departmental training.
- Attend operational meetings, safety briefings, training sessions, and competency assessments.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of Atlantis Dubai facilities, attractions, services, and guest offerings.
- Protect confidential operational, guest, colleague, and safety‑related information.
- Complete additional marine operations duties reasonably assigned by management.
Ideal Profile
- Renewed PADI Divemaster certification with Discover Scuba Diving Leader status or a higher qualification.
- Valid first aid certification.
- Excellent health and physical fitness for regular professional diving duties.
- Ability to pass the required annual dive medical examination.
- Ability to pass the departmental annual swimming assessment.
- Comfortable working underwater and in close proximity to marine animals.
- Physically capable of lifting and moving scuba tanks, dive equipment, cleaning tools, and related operational materials.
- Strong understanding of dive safety, rescue procedures, equipment preparation, and emergency response.
- Confident delivering guest and colleague safety briefings.
- Clear and professional written and spoken English.
- Mature, responsible, and safety‑conscious approach to assigned duties.
- Positive attitude with dependable work habits and strong personal discipline.
- Able to remain calm and make sound decisions during unexpected incidents.
- Comfortable working within a multicultural resort and marine operations team.
- Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
