Job summary

Hapag-Lloyd in Dubai, UAE, is seeking a Manager Regional Dry Container Flow Planning & Steering to lead the regional repositioning plan and container fleet utilization. The role reports to the Senior Manager Regional Container Flow Planning & Steering.

You will define measures to improve fleet utilization, plan dedicated vessels for empty containers, analyze large data sets, and prepare management memos and meetings.

Qualifications

• University degree in business administration, operations/logistics or transportation management, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Manage regional empty container repositioning and bookings to balance fleet utilization.
• Define and implement measures to increase container fleet utilization while considering costs and contribution.
• Ensure optimal vessel capacity usage for repositioning empties in collaboration with Trade Management, Network and Regional Operations.
• Plan dedicated vessels for evacuation or supply of empties with Chartering, Network and Regional Operations.
• Analyze large sets of operational and financial data using analytical tools; prepare management memos and conduct meetings.

We are looking for a Manager Regional Dry Container Flow Planning & Steering to join our Equipment team, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The Regional Dry Container Planning & Steering Manager owns the regional repositioning plan for standards.

Role Reports to:
Administrative;Senior Manager Regional Container Flow Planning & Steering

Tasks and responsibilities

• Manage imbalances and steer Hapag-Lloyd’s global standard container fleet on regional level
  by planning empty repositionings and conducting bookings for empty shipments.
• Define and implement measures to increase the utilization of Hapag-Lloyd’s container fleet,
  considering fleet and repositioning costs and generated contribution levels.
• Ensure optimal utilization of available vessel capacities for the repositioning of empty containers
  in cooperation with Trade Management, Network, and Regional Operations.
• Plan dedicated vessels to evacuate or supply empty containers in cooperation with Chartering,
  Network, Trade Management and Regional Operations.
• Analyze large sets of operational and financial data using different analytical tools.
• Prepare management presentations and decision memos, conduct regular logistics meetings.

Requirements for the role

• University degree in the field of business administration, operations-/logistics-/or transportation
  management, (industrial) engineering, finance, or information technology is a plus.
• Experience in global logistics and/or container shipping.
• Reliable and motivated team player with excellent communication skills verbally and in writing.
• Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently with strong ownership for own tasks and responsibilities.
• Analytical mindset and ability to analyze large structured or unstructured data sets.
• Good understanding of IT tools such as MS Office, Qlik, and FIS/COMPASS.
• Fluent in business English
