Job summary

Avanta Works in Sharjah is seeking a Librarian to join our team. The successful candidate will be highly organized, customer-service oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team to assist patrons and manage library materials.

Responsibilities include cataloging, shelving, maintaining records, helping patrons locate resources, developing programs, and maintaining the library website and social media.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
• Experience with computers, database software, email systems & internet search engines preferred.
• Excellent customer service skills with patient demeanor when dealing with patrons.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Cataloging library materials (books, magazines, audio visual, etc).
• Ensuring materials are properly shelved and maintained.
• Maintaining accurate records of library materials.
• Assisting patrons in locating material in the library.
• Recommending books and other materials for patrons.
• Providing reference services.
• Developing and conducting library programs such as storytime or book clubs.
• Preparing catalogs, indexes, and finding aids for materials.
• Developing and maintaining the library’s website and social media presence.
