Job summary

Avanta Works in Dubai, UAE is seeking an experienced Librarian to manage our library resources, assist patrons with research, and promote literacy within the community. The role focuses on organizing collections, maintaining records, and delivering high-quality reference service.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Library Science and at least two years of library experience. Fluency in English is essential; Arabic is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a library setting.
• Excellent communication skills in English (Arabic is a plus).
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Manage and organize library resources, including books, journals, electronic databases, and multimedia materials.
• Assist patrons with research and reference inquiries.
• Develop and implement programs to promote literacy and learning within the community.
• Create displays and activities to engage library visitors.
• Maintain accurate records of library materials and patron accounts.
• Oversee circulation of materials and ensure timely returns.
• Train library staff on proper procedures for cataloging, shelving, and handling materials.
• Collaborate with other librarians to plan events and programs for all age groups.
