Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Dubai is seeking an experienced Lead Telecom Engineer to oversee the design and engineering of telecommunications systems for large-scale onshore oil and gas projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of experience and a strong background in FEED Detailed Engineering. Familiarity with ADNOC standards is a significant advantage. This role includes leading project telecommunication scope and coordinating with various engineering teams.

Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Telecom Engineer to lead the design and engineering of telecommunications systems for large-scale onshore oil and gas projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in FEED Detailed Engineering and Detailed Design with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience in the field. Prior experience on ADNOC or other major Middle Eastern projects is a strong advantage.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the telecom engineering scope for onshore oil and gas projects from FEED through Detailed Design and support during construction phases.
  • Develop engineering deliverables including design basis specifications data sheets cable schedules block diagrams and equipment layouts.
  • Ensure compliance with international standards and client-specific requirements particularly ADNOC specifications where applicable.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams (Instrumentation Electrical Process Civil etc.) to ensure telecom integration with all project systems.
  • Conduct and lead technical reviews HAZOPs and design validation workshops.
  • Interface with clients vendors and subcontractors for technical discussions and clarification.
  • Review and approve vendor documents ensuring alignment with design requirements and project standards.
  • Support procurement activities by preparing technical requisitions and evaluating vendor bids.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers in the telecom discipline.
  • Ensure telecom system designs meet safety cybersecurity and operational reliability requirements.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electronics Telecommunications Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Telecom Engineering within the onshore oil & gas industry.
  • Proven track record in FEED Detailed Engineering and Detailed Design phases.
  • Solid understanding of telecom systems such as fiber optics CCTV PAGA radio systems LAN/WAN telephony and access control.
  • Familiarity with ADNOC standards and project execution procedures is highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant international codes and standards (e.g. IEC ITU NEC NFPA).
  • Strong leadership communication and coordination skills.
