Job summary

SteerAI is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to lead the Systems and Design team and own systems engineering across autonomy programs. You will set requirements, architecture, and MBSE practices for unmanned ground vehicles and C2 systems in a fast-growing startup environment.

You will mentor engineers, drive cross-team collaboration with Growth and Product, and ensure safety and reliability through robust risk management and regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Systems Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in systems engineering or architecture, with autonomous systems exposure.
• Leadership experience across multiple programs and teams.
• Strong command of SysML, MBSE, ISO 15288 and V-model methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Own systems engineering across SteerAI autonomy programs and lead the Systems and Design team.
• Establish standards, processes, and rigor to scale across programs.
• Set requirements and architectural direction for UGVs and C2 systems.
• Drive MBSE adoption with SysML modeling across the stack.
• Manage risk, safety, and assurance with ISO 26262, SOTIF, UL 4600 alignment.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Growth and Product teams.
