Job summary

Technology Innovation Institute in Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Senior RF Researcher to lead advanced RF/microwave research, development, and prototyping across industrial and scientific applications. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering to deliver RF subsystems and technology demonstrators.

You will mentor junior researchers, define technical roadmaps, and contribute to research strategy, proposal development, and laboratory integration.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master in Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, Applied Physics, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of applied experience in RF, microwave, or electromagnetic systems research and development.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams, work packages, or research projects.
• Strong background in RF design across L, S, C, X, Ku, Ka or higher frequency bands.
• Experience with ADS, AWR, HFSS, CST or equivalent tools.
• Hands-on experience with RF laboratory instrumentation.
• Experience with PCB design, RF integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of MMIC technologies is desirable.
• Programming experience in Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW is an advantage.
• Excellent communication and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead RF and microwave research programs from concept to prototype validation.
• Design, simulate, build, and test microwave circuits, particularly high-power amplifiers, filters and frequency conversion devices.
• Circuit design and simulation of RF/microwave circuits using software tools such as AWR microwave office, Keysight ADS or similar.
• Mentor junior researchers and support development of technical capabilities within the team.
• Define technical roadmaps and contribute to research strategy and proposal development.
• Oversee laboratory integration, verification, and troubleshooting activities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to transition technology into operational prototypes.
