Job summary

Penspen Ltd is seeking an experienced Lead Planning Engineer with a strong background in the oil & gas industry to lead project planning and scheduling activities across the project lifecycle.

You will develop, monitor, and control integrated project schedules to ensure timely delivery in line with objectives and contractual requirements, coordinating across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • 17+ years of oil & gas experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • 5+ years in PMC projects.
  • Lead Planning Engineer on compression facility projects or similar.
  • Strong experience in FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, commissioning, start-up.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Knowledge of CPM, EVA, EVM, forecasting and schedule risk analysis.
  • GCC/Middle East project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and maintenance of integrated project schedules.
  • Prepare baselines, WBS, critical path analyses, and look-ahead plans.
  • Coordinate planning across engineering teams, contractors, vendors, clients.
  • Produce weekly/monthly planning reports, dashboards, KPIs.
  • Support project controls: forecasting, change management, EVA, schedule risk.
  • Participate in project reviews and support decision making.
  • Ensure compliance with planning procedures and standards.

Job description

Penspen is hiring an experiencedLead Planning Engineer with a strong background in the oil & gas industryto lead project planning and scheduling activities throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling integrated project schedules, ensuring timely delivery in accordance with project objectives and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of integrated project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Prepare project baselines, work breakdown structures (WBS), critical path analyses, recovery schedules, and look-ahead plans.
  • Plan and monitor engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities for LNG compression facility and oil & gas projects.
  • Coordinate planning activities across multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and client representatives.
  • Monitor project progress, identify schedule risks and delays, and recommend mitigation and recovery strategies.
  • Review and assess contractor schedules, resource plans, and progress reports to ensure alignment with project milestones.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly planning reports, S-curves, dashboards, KPIs, progress measurement reports, and management presentations.
  • Support project controls activities, including forecasting, change management, earned value analysis (EVA), and schedule risk analysis.
  • Participate in project review meetings and provide planning support to project management for informed decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with project planning procedures, contractual requirements, and company standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline,
  • 17+ years of oil & gas experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • 5+ years in PMC projects
  • Proven experience as a Lead Planning Engineer on compression facility projects and other upstream, midstream, or downstream oil & gas developments.
  • Strong experience in FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, commissioning, and start-up phases.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with project controls and reporting tools is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of EPC project execution, critical path methodology (CPM), earned value management (EVM), forecasting, and schedule risk analysis.
  • Experience preparing recovery schedules, delay analyses, claims support documentation, and project performance reports.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, AACE PSP (Planning & Scheduling
  • Experience supporting procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Strong experience ingreenfield & brownfield compression facility projects.
  • GCC/Middle East oil & gas project experience is preferred.
