Job summary

King’s College Hospital London, Dubai is seeking a Lead Nurse for the Institute OPD to provide expert nursing leadership and oversee outpatient services. You will drive safe, high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with DHA and JCI standards and hospital strategy.

The role requires strong clinical leadership, team mentorship, and collaboration with the Institute CD and PM to deliver efficient patient flow and ongoing service improvements in a busy Dubai-based setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent; postgraduate qualification in clinical nursing, nursing leadership, or healthcare management desirable.
  • Current, valid DHA nursing license (or eligibility for DHA registration).
  • Minimum 7 years post-registration clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a senior nurse role within an outpatient, ambulatory, or clinical institute setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical leadership, team management, and quality improvement in a healthcare environment.
  • Strong knowledge of JCI accreditation standards, DHA regulatory requirements, and evidence-based clinical practice in the outpatient setting.
  • Proficient in electronic medical records systems; experience with CERNER desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the senior clinical nursing presence within the designated institute’s OPD, providing expert guidance and decision-making support to the nursing team.
  • Partner with the Institute CD and PM to ensure clinical and operational performance targets are achieved and sustained.
  • Monitor and evaluate clinical practice standards within the institute, identifying areas for improvement and leading quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote and sustain a culture of patient safety, clinical excellence, and professional accountability within the nursing team.
  • Contribute to the development and review of institute-specific clinical protocols, care pathways, and standard operating procedures aligned with best evidence and JCI standards.

The Lead Nurse – OPD Institute is responsible for providing expert clinical nursing leadership and


operational oversight within a designated clinical institute’s outpatient services at King’s College


Hospital London Dubai. Reporting operationally to the Institute Clinical Director (CD) and


professionally to the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer (DCNO), the Lead Nurse works collaboratively


with the Institute CD and the Practice Manager (PM) to drive the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient centered care in alignment with the hospital’s strategic objectives and DHA regulatory requirements.



  • Providing visible, accessible clinical leadership within the institute’s OPD, serving as a role model for professional nursing practice and standards.

  • Coordinating day-to-day nursing operations within the institute’s outpatient clinics, ensuring efficient patient flow, clinic readiness, and optimal staff deployment.

  • Collaborating with the CD and PM to implement and sustain the institute’s service strategy, quality improvement initiatives, and patient experience goals.

  • Supporting the development, mentorship, and professional growth of nursing staff within the institute, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

  • Ensuring compliance with accreditation standards (JCI), DHA licensing requirements, and King’s College Hospital London Dubai policies and procedures across all outpatients’ clinical activity.

  • Conducting daily rounds of the inpatient unit to proactively monitor institute patient progress, facilitate timely discharge planning, and ensure discharge timing KPIs are achieved.
