Job summary

Confidential Company in Abu Dhabi seeks a senior Electrical Engineering Lead to guide planning, design, and implementation of complex electrical systems for major projects.

You will review specifications, ensure compliance with IEEE/IEC/NEC standards, mentor junior engineers, perform analyses, and coordinate with mechanical, civil, and procurement teams. Office-based with occasional project-site visits.

A PE or CEng is a plus; 10+ years in oil & gas or heavy industrial sectors preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience with leadership experience.
• Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or heavy industrial sectors preferred.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of IEEE, NEC, IEC standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, development and implementation of electrical systems for assigned projects.
• Review electrical design specifications, drawings, datasheets and calculation reports for compliance with standards.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Project Planning and Execution: Lead the electrical engineering team in the planning, design, development and implementation of electrical systems for assigned projects Prepare and review electrical design specifications drawings datasheets and calculation reports Ensure electrical systems are designed in compliance with industry standards e.g. IEEE IEC NEC safety regulations and client requirements Coordinate with other disciplines mechanical civil instrumentation etc to ensure electrical design interfaces are managed effectively Review vendor documents for electrical equipment and ensure they meet project specifications and standards Supervise installation testing and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with design specifications
• Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers Ensure all electrical designs are technically sound and optimized for performance cost and reliability Troubleshoot electrical system issues and provide technical solutions during all project phases including construction and commissioning Perform detailed calculations load flow short-circuit protection coordination voltage drop etc and analyses to verify design compliance
• Project Coordination Management: Prepare and manage electrical engineering work schedules and budgets Lead design review meetings hazard and operability HAZOP reviews and safety analysis sessions Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of electrical equipment and materials Liaise with clients and contractors to resolve technical queries TQs and ensure project requirements are met Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders ensuring transparency on technical progress issues and risks Participate in progress reporting and management meetings
• Quality Control Compliance: Ensure that all electrical designs comply with quality management systems and project-specific quality requirements Lead or participate in technical audits and design reviews to ensure adherence to specifications and standards Verify compliance with health safety and environmental HSE standards in electrical engineering deliverables
• Documentation Reporting: Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as electrical system designs one-line diagrams cable schedules and grounding plans Compile and maintain accurate engineering records and technical documentation Provide regular project status updates to the Engineering Manager or Project Manager Ensure timely completion and submission of all project documentation

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Experience

10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a lead or supervisory role. Experience in the oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or heavy industrial sectors is preferred.

Skills

Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD). In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC, IEC). Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Certifications

Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) license is a plus.

Work Environment

Office-based with occasional travel to project sites for design coordination, construction support, and commissioning activities.
