Job Summary

We are seeking a Lead Design Engineer - R&D with strong expertise in mechanical design and conveyor systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and optimising conveyor systems while coordinating with manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure practical and successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems, components, and assemblies using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Prepare detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Perform engineering calculations and support prototype testing and product validation.
• Lead troubleshooting activities and implement practical design improvements.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, procurement, and QA teams to ensure design feasibility.
• Select appropriate materials and mechanical components for conveyor applications.
• Design and develop belt, roller, chain, screw, and carousel conveyor systems.
• Support complete conveyor project execution from design and fabrication through installation and commissioning.
• Perform load calculations and support structural analysis.
• Integrate conveyor systems with PLCs, sensors, and control systems.
• Consider CNC machining, welded fabrication, sheet metal, and manufacturing requirements during design.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable ASME, ISO, and other engineering standards.
• Participate in design reviews and continuous product improvement initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 5-6 years of professional experience in mechanical design.
• Strong hands-on experience using SolidWorks - mandatory.
• Strong experience designing conveyor systems, including:
  • Belt conveyors
  • Roller conveyors
  • Chain conveyors
  • Screw conveyors
  • Carousel conveyors
• Experience with complete conveyor project execution, including design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
• Strong knowledge of load calculations, structural analysis, and conveyor component selection.
• Experience integrating conveyors with PLCs, sensors, and control systems.
• Good understanding of CNC machining, welded fabrication, sheet metal, and material selection.
• Experience preparing BOMs and detailed engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with ASME, ISO, and relevant engineering standards.
• FEA/CFD knowledge is an added advantage.
• Strong analytical, communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
