Job summary

Dizzaract is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to own the backend and lead the backend engineering team. This hands-on role requires designing systems, writing and reviewing code while setting engineering standards and driving delivery for services used by hundreds of thousands of users.

You will collaborate with the Tech Lead, Frontend, Game and Product teams on scalable architectures, databases and AI/LLM capabilities, with a modern office in Abu Dhabi and a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience and strong hands-on coding
• Proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS
• Experience with NestJS, Express or Fastify
• Leadership of backend engineers and ownership of technical delivery
• Solid understanding of system design, distributed systems and event-driven architecture
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS or BullMQ
• Good understanding of Docker and CI/CD

Responsibilities

• Own backend architecture and technical decisions
• Design, build and maintain backend services with TypeScript, Node.js and NestJS
• Lead the backend team and unblock complex problems
• Review code and maintain high engineering standards
• Design systems for high availability, performance and scale
• Own database architecture and optimisation across PostgreSQL, Redis and MongoDB
• Build integrations with internal services, external APIs, payments and gaming platforms
• Improve reliability, observability and fault tolerance
• Collaborate on CI/CD, deployments and infrastructure with Tech Lead
• Support AI/LLM capabilities integration into production products
• Contribute to planning, estimation and technical direction
