Job summary

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) seeks a Surveyor I in Dubai, an entry-level role for graduates with less than five years in maritime surveying. You will assist senior staff in conducting vessel and offshore structure surveys to ensure compliance with ABS Rules and relevant statutory requirements.

You will develop skills in preparing reports, interacting with clients, and understanding ship systems, while adhering to safety policies and ABS procedures at the Dubai port.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in engineering or physical science, or marine/nautical qualification with seagoing experience.
• Proficiency in English commensurate with certification scope and services.
• Appropriate certifications/licenses may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine surveys on classed vessels, platforms, or other marine structures.
• Prepare technically accurate inspection reports in a timely manner.
• Communicate with clients to resolve issues within area of expertise.
• Maintain survey files and administrative records at the port.
• Develop skills in ABS procedures, rules, and safety management systems.
• Support broader field operations and project work as experience grows.
