Job summary

PeopleGene in the United Arab Emirates is seeking a Mechanical Estimation Engineer to review drawings, perform BOQ take-offs, and prepare cost and proposal documents for water treatment projects in Sharjah.

You will coordinate with engineering and procurement teams, update estimation templates, and ensure accuracy and timely delivery while supporting post-issue queries and emergency requests as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
• Experience with BOQ preparation and cost estimation.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings used in water treatment.

Responsibilities

• Review and understand mechanical equipment drawings and layouts for water treatment systems.
• Perform material and quantity take-offs using AutoCAD/PDF documents.
• Prepare cost estimations, BOQs, and support proposal preparation.
• Coordinate with engineering and procurement to verify material requirements.
• Assist in preparing technical and commercial estimation documents.
• Update and maintain cost databases, supplier quotations, and estimation templates.
• Ensure all estimation work is completed accurately and within deadlines.
• Remain accessible during holidays or post-work for emergencies as directed.

Job description

• Review and understand mechanical equipment drawings and layouts used in water treatment systems (e.g., pump stations, flanges, filtration units, piping & valve arrangements).
• Perform material and quantity take-offs based on approved drawings and technical specifications using AutoCAD/PDF documents.
• Prepare cost estimations, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), and support proposal preparation.
• Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to verify material requirements.
• Assist in preparing technical and commercial estimation documents.
• Update and maintain cost databases, supplier quotations, and estimation templates.
• Ensure all estimation work is completed accurately, efficiently, and within deadlines.
• Remain accessible and available during holidays or post work for any emergency work requirement as instructed by the team lead.

Good to have:

• Experience in BOQ preparation with strong ability to interpret mechanical drawings used in water treatment industry
• Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment used in the water treatment industry such as flanges, pumps etc.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Must have proficiency in Microsoft Excel with good communication and coordination skills
