Job summary

Tanqeeb in Abu Dhabi invites aspiring engineers to join a coastal engineering development role. You will study coastal processes, met-ocean forcing, and how modelling supports design of coastal structures.

The position develops skills in hydrodynamic modelling, beach design, and reporting, with opportunities to work with draftsmen on drawings and present findings using Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil/Coastal preferred)
• Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering is an advantage
• 1–2 years of experience in a similar role

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of coastal engineering and modelling and how they support designs
• Understand coastal processes and met-ocean forcing, especially wave propagation and hydrodynamic coastal circulation
• Develop expertise in hydrodynamic modelling, water exchange, wave propagation, beach modelling and shoreline change
• Learn to apply international codes and standards for coastal engineering and coastal structures design
• Assist coastal and senior engineers with drawings and draftsman coordination
• Develop skills in beach design and artificial beaches specifications
• Support numerical modelling, design tasks, and pre/post-processing work
• Improve engineering/scientific report writing and prepare presentations using Microsoft Office

Job description

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of coastal engineering and the role of applications of modelling and how they serve the designs
• Develop an understanding of coastal processes including met-oceanic forcing, specifically on wave propagation, hydrodynamic coastal circulation
• Develop expertise in hydrodynamic modelling, water exchange (flushing), wave propagation modelling, wave agitation modelling, beach modelling (beach profile and shoreline change
• Get introduced to usage of international codes and standards for coastal engineering and coastal structures design
• Support coastal engineers as well as senior engineers in the preparation of drawings with draftsman
• Develop skills on beach design, as well as specification for artificial beaches
• Support with numerical modelling and design tasks
• Support with pre and post processing tasks
• Develop skills on engineering/scientific report write-up, and ability to compose presentations using Microsoft suite

Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Preferably Civil, Structural, Coastal), or equivalent
• Master’s Degree in Coastal Engineering is an advantage
• Minimum 1 - 2 years of experience in a similar role and industry
