Job summary

NCO in Abu Dhabi is looking for a motivated Junior Structural Engineer to support the development and delivery of high‑quality structural designs for buildings and infrastructure, under the guidance of senior engineers.

You will assist with structural models, calculations, drawings and technical documentation, coordinate with architects and other disciplines, and help review drawings while gaining exposure to site inspections and project coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering is required.
• Understanding of building codes, construction methods, and structural behaviour is essential.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is a plus.

Job Description

To support the development and delivery of high-quality structural designs in accordance with client requirements, project objectives, applicable engineering standards, and NCO procedures. The role assists senior structural engineers in preparing structural models, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation using relevant design and analysis tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior structural engineers in designing and analyzing structural elements for buildings and other infrastructure projects.
• Support the development of structural models and perform basic engineering calculations under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Utilize structural analysis and design software such as ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, and other relevant engineering tools.
• Prepare and update structural drawings, details, calculations, schedules, and technical documents in coordination with senior engineers.
• Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, MEP engineers, and other disciplines to ensure proper integration of structural designs within overall project requirements.
• Assist in reviewing structural drawings for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
• Participate in project coordination meetings and provide updates on assigned structural design tasks.
• Assist senior engineers in identifying and resolving design discrepancies, technical issues, and coordination conflicts.
• Support site inspections, when required, to observe construction progress and assist in verifying works against approved structural drawings and specifications.

Requirements

• Experience: 0 - 3 years of experience, preferably within an engineering consultancy.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity in SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD Pro, and AutoCAD.
• Core Competencies: Understanding of building codes, construction methods, and structural behaviour.
• Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is a plus.
