ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client is an Abu Dhabi-based investment firm, established within the past two years, that has positioned itself as a strategic bridge between Gulf institutional capital and high-growth technology companies across Asia. The firm invests from growth stage through to pre-IPO, partnering alongside leading international and regional co-investors on landmark transactions in category-leading businesses.
This is a rare opportunity to join a lean, high-conviction investment team at an early and formative stage, with direct exposure to sourcing, structuring and executing some of the most closely watched cross-border technology transactions connecting Gulf capital to Asian innovation.
THE ROLE
The firm is seeking an Investment Professional to play a central role across the full investment lifecycle - from initial opportunity screening through to due diligence, investment committee presentation, and transaction execution. This is a hands-on, analytically intensive role suited to someone who combines rigorous financial and commercial judgement with genuine curiosity about frontier technology businesses and their long-term competitive positioning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deal evaluation: screen and evaluate potential investment opportunities against the firm's thesis, sourcing insight from management teams, co-investors, industry experts and proprietary research.
- Due diligence: lead and coordinate commercial, financial and operational due diligence workstreams, including third-party advisors where relevant, to build a complete and well-tested picture of each opportunity.
- Financial modelling: build and stress-test detailed financial models, analysing historical performance, forward projections, unit economics and valuation across a range of scenarios and assumptions.
- Business and market assessment: assess the underlying business, product, competitive landscape, pricing dynamics, customer base, contractual terms and other key value drivers to form an independent view of quality and durability.
- Critical challenge: constructively challenge management's assumptions and projections, proactively identifying risks, weaknesses and areas requiring further validation before capital is committed.
- Investment case development: build the investment case and supporting materials for internal investment committee review, articulating a clear thesis, risk assessment and return profile.
- Transaction execution: support transactions from initial evaluation through to signing and close, including coordination with legal counsel, co-investors and other transaction parties.
- Portfolio engagement: maintain ongoing visibility of portfolio company performance post-investment, supporting monitoring and value-creation initiatives where required.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Experience: around 8+ years of relevant experience, ideally within private equity or direct investment. Candidates from strong M&A, investment banking or consulting backgrounds with genuine hands-on transaction and due diligence experience will also be considered.
- Financial modelling and analysis: strong financial modelling and analytical skills are essential, with a highly detailed, sceptical and critical approach to assessing both the numbers and the underlying business - this is the single most important requirement for the role.
- Commercial judgement: demonstrated ability to form independent, well-reasoned views on business quality, market positioning and competitive dynamics, beyond what the model alone shows.
- Transaction experience: a track record of supporting or leading transactions from screening through to execution, including direct exposure to due diligence processes and investment committee materials.
- Communication: ability to present complex analysis clearly and persuasively, both in writing and in person, to senior stakeholders and investment committees.
- Cross-cultural fluency: given the firm's cross-border mandate, comfort operating across Gulf and Asian business contexts is important; prior exposure to Chinese or broader Asian markets, and Mandarin language ability, would be a strong advantage though not a strict requirement.
- Mobility: based in or willing to relocate to Abu Dhabi, with willingness to travel internationally as required.
