PMX is looking for an Integration Specialist to own the technical integration of payment gateways and acquiring systems across our ecommerce product suite. The role goes beyond execution: alongside hands-on integration work with MPGS, CyberSource, and other payment gateways, the successful candidate brings a working product understanding of ecommerce checkout and payment flows, merchant platforms, and how gateway and acquiring architecture shapes the product experience. This is a Product-function role that pairs technical integration delivery with informed product judgment and works closely with engineering, scheme partners, and gateway providers.
- Integration delivery — Own end-to-end integration of payment gateways and acquiring switches — including MPGS, CyberSource, and other gateways as PMX’s portfolio expands — with our ecommerce and acquiring platform.
- Certification support — Assist with scheme certification and testing cycles (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB, Diner, Discover, Jaywan) alongside the product and certification team.
- Ecommerce product input — Apply ecommerce product knowledge — checkout flows, cart and payment page design, merchant platform integration points — to shape how integrations are scoped and delivered.
- Product & acquiring knowledge — Bring broader product understanding of payment gateways and acquiring systems to integration and roadmap discussions, not just the mechanics of a single integration.
- API integration — Support API integration work — request/response mapping, authentication flows, data formats (JSON/XML), and error handling — for merchant onboarding and platform connectivity.
- Documentation — Maintain clear documentation of integration specifications, test evidence, and defect logs; escalate blockers with sufficient technical context.
- Cross-team coordination — Work with internal engineering and external vendor/scheme technical teams to translate integration requirements into implementation and test plans.
Beyond the technical integration skillset, this role requires solid product domain knowledge across the following areas:
- Ecommerce — Checkout, cart, and payment page flows, and how ecommerce platforms structure the payment experience.
- Acquiring — How acquiring architecture, settlement, and scheme processing come together end-to-end.
- Merchant onboarding — Merchant KYC/KYB, onboarding workflows, and the requirements merchants must meet to go live.
- Operations — Day-to-day payment operations, including reconciliation, exception handling, and dispute/chargeback processes.
- Mobile SDKs — Integrating payment SDKs into iOS/Android apps and mobile-specific checkout flows.
- Wallet payments — Wallet-based payment methods (e.g., Apple Pay, Google Pay, and regional wallets) and how they fit into the payment flow.
- Working knowledge of MPGS (Mastercard Payment Gateway Services), CyberSource, and other payment gateways, including their integration and transaction flows.
- Solid understanding of ecommerce and ecommerce product fundamentals — checkout and payment flows, cart integration, and common ecommerce platforms.
- Broader product knowledge of payment gateways and acquiring systems — how gateway, switch, and acquiring components fit together, beyond a single integration.
- Understanding of API integration fundamentals — REST/SOAP concepts, request-response cycles, authentication, and JSON/XML data formats.
- Ability to write, execute, and document structured test cases (manual QA); exposure to test management tools is a plus.
- Clear written and verbal communication for coordinating across product, engineering, and external partners.
- 5 years of experience in payments, fintech, or ecommerce, with direct exposure to payment gateway or acquiring integration.
- Prior experience working on an ecommerce product or platform (merchant-side, PSP, or gateway) is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience).
