Job summary

AECOM Middle East Ltd in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Inspector - Dry Utilities to support a major infrastructure project. You will perform daily site inspections of electrical, telecom, street lighting and related networks, verify installations against drawings, specs and ITPs, and coordinate with engineers and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor dry utility construction works (electrical, telecom, street lighting).
• Conduct daily site inspections to verify compliance with drawings, specs, ITPs and project requirements.
• Inspect ducts, chambers, routes, sleeves, crossings and related infrastructure works.
• Review Inspection Requests and verify readiness for inspection.
• Monitor materials, workmanship, alignment, levels and duct arrangements.
• Witness and inspect testing activities for dry utilities and related works.
• Verify lines, levels, duct routes, chamber locations and other construction requirements.
• Check activities against approved shop drawings and specs.
• Identify defective/non-compliant work and coordinate corrective actions with Engineer/contractor.
• Monitor contractor compliance with method statements, ITPs and quality requirements.
• Coordinate with surveyors for setting out, levels and interfaces.
• Support coordination between electrical, telecom, roads, wet utilities and other disciplines.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation; participate in site meetings.
• Assist Engineer in monitoring progress and quality of works; ensure safety and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor dry utility construction works covering electrical, telecom, street lighting, and associated utility networks.
• Conduct daily site inspections to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans, and project requirements.
• Inspect utility ducts, chambers, manholes, cable routes, sleeves, crossings, and associated infrastructure works.
• Review Inspection Requests submitted by the contractor and verify that the relevant works are ready for inspection.
• Monitor materials, workmanship, installation quality, alignment, levels, duct arrangements, and protection of dry utility networks.
• Witness and inspect testing activities associated with dry utility installations and related infrastructure works.
• Verify lines, levels, alignments, duct routes, chamber locations, and other applicable construction requirements.
• Check construction activities against approved shop drawings, technical specifications, and project requirements.
• Identify defective or non-compliant work and coordinate with the Engineer and contractor on appropriate corrective actions.
• Monitor contractor compliance with approved method statements, ITPs, specifications, and established quality requirements.
• Coordinate with surveyors to verify setting out, levels, alignments, and utility interfaces.
• Work with electrical, telecom, roads, wet utilities, and other disciplines to support proper coordination between services.
• Maintain accurate records covering inspections, site activities, testing, and quality-related matters.
• Participate in site meetings and coordination activities when required.
• Support the Engineer in monitoring construction progress and the quality of completed and ongoing works.
• Monitor compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements during site activities.

Requirements

• Candidates should hold a Diploma or Bachelor 's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline and have relevant experience in dry utilities and infrastructure construction.
• The role requires practical knowledge of electrical and telecom infrastructure, street lighting, utility ducts, chambers, cable routes, and associated infrastructure works.
• Previous experience inspecting dry utility installations and related construction activities is required.
• Candidates should also have a good understanding of construction drawings, technical specifications, method statements, ITPs, and inspection procedures, together with experience working with contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• UAE infrastructure and Authority experience is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and effective communication and coordination skills are also required.

The inspection scope covers dry utility infrastructure and its interfaces with other construction disciplines. Particular attention will be given to utility routing, duct and chamber installations, cable routes, setting out, alignment, levels, testing, workmanship, materials, inspection documentation, and coordination between electrical, telecom, roads, wet utilities, and other project works.
