Job summary

NMC Healthcare in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is seeking a Consultant in Infectious Diseases to provide expert clinical care, diagnosis, and treatment in a hospital setting. You will work closely with physicians, nursing, microbiology, and pharmacy to ensure high-quality patient care.

The role includes leadership in antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, and education, with opportunities to contribute to audits and teaching of residents and staff.

Qualifications

• MBBS/MD or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Postgraduate qualification in Infectious Diseases and/or Internal Medicine.
• Consultant-level certification recognized by UAE health authority.
• Valid UAE DOH Abu Dhabi licensure/eligibility.
• Current BLS/ACLS as required by facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level assessment and management of patients with infectious diseases.
• Diagnose and treat complex bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections.
• Manage antimicrobial therapy and participate in antimicrobial stewardship programs.
• Provide consultation for inpatient and outpatient infectious disease cases.
• Support sepsis management and other serious infectious conditions.
• Advise on infection prevention, isolation precautions, and outbreak management.
• Collaborate with microbiology and lab teams for cultures and testing.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions.
• Guide infection control policies and healthcare-associated infections.
• Contribute to education of residents, specialists, nurses, and staff.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and compliance with regulations.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement, research, and CME.
• Provide on-call or emergency infectious disease consultations as required.
