Job summary

Qualifications

• MBBS/MD or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Postgraduate qualification in Infectious Diseases and/or Internal Medicine.
• Consultant-level certification recognized by UAE health authority.
• Valid UAE DOH Abu Dhabi licensure/eligibility.
• Current BLS/ACLS as required by facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level assessment and management of patients with infectious diseases.
• Diagnose and treat complex bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections.
• Manage antimicrobial therapy and participate in antimicrobial stewardship programs.
• Provide consultation for inpatient and outpatient infectious disease cases.
• Support sepsis management and other serious infectious conditions.
• Advise on infection prevention, isolation precautions, and outbreak management.
• Collaborate with microbiology and lab teams for cultures and testing.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions.
• Guide infection control policies and healthcare-associated infections.
• Contribute to education of residents, specialists, nurses, and staff.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and compliance with regulations.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement, research, and CME.
• Provide on-call or emergency infectious disease consultations as required.

Job Description / Role

Consultant -Infectious Diseases will provide specialist clinical care, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases in a hospital setting in the UAE. He will work closely with physicians, nursing teams, microbiology, infection prevention and control, pharmacy, and other specialties to ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Experience Required

• Relevant consultant-level clinical experience, preferably in a tertiary-care.


• Experience in antimicrobial stewardship and infection prevention and control is desirable


• Experience managing complex and immunocompromised patients is an advantage.

Education Qualifications

• Medical degree ( MBBS/MD or equivalent ) from a recognized institution.


• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Infectious Diseases and/or Internal Medicine.


• Appropriate consultant-level certification recognized by the relevant UAE health authority.


• Valid eligibility/licensure with the applicable UAE regulatory authority, DOH Abu Dhabi.


• Current BLS/ACLS certification, where required by the facility.
