Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or HVAC engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in HVAC engineering with pre-sale focus.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components and applications.
• Familiarity with energy codes and building regulations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and project scope.
• Guide HVAC system designs, equipment selections, and feasibility.
• Estimate HVAC system costs including equipment and third-party items.
• Develop accurate cost proposals aligned with budgets.
• Evaluate customer needs to recommend HVAC systems like chillers and AHUs.
• Use design tools to size, select, and configure HVAC equipment.
• Prepare technical proposals, specs, and scope of work documents.
• Review technical docs and drawings for accuracy and compliance.
• Work cross-functionally with Engineering, PM, and Operations.
• Serve as a technical resource throughout the sales process.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on HVAC system designs, equipment selections, and technical feasibility
• Perform detailed estimation of HVAC system costs, including equipment and third-party line items
• Develop accurate and competitive cost proposals aligned with project budgets
• Evaluate customer needs to recommend appropriate HVAC systems such as chillers and air handling units
• Use design tools and software to assist in sizing, selecting, and configuring HVAC equipment
• Prepare detailed technical proposals, specifications, and scope of work documents
• Review technical documentation and drawings for accuracy and compliance
• Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Project Management, and Operations to ensure seamless project transitions
• Serve as a technical resource for customers throughout the sales process

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in HVAC engineering with a focus on pre-sale activities
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and applications
• Understanding of HVAC industry standards, energy codes, and building regulations
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical presentation skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification in HVAC (e.g., ASHRAE, AEE)
• Experience in HVAC system design, estimating, or sales support
• Knowledge of BIM and AutoCAD
• Experience with Johnson Controls/York products and services
• Proficiency in HVAC software tools like Solution Navigator, Trane Trace, or Carrier HAP
