Job summary

Rowad Modern Engineering in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced HSE Specialist to develop and implement safety and environmental programs across projects. You will conduct risk assessments, lead HIRA/JSA/HAZOP, and ensure adherence to standards.

Responsibilities include site inspections, incident investigations, permit-to-work coordination, and training. You will drive sustainability, waste management, and regulatory compliance with ISO 45001/14001 and local laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering with HSE focus; postgraduate qualification preferred.
• ISO 45001 Lead Auditor and/or ISO 14001 certification preferred.
• First Aid or firefighting certification is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement HSE plans, procedures, and checklists aligned with policies and regulations.
• Conduct risk assessments, HIRA, JSA, and HAZOP; recommend control measures.
• Perform site inspections, audits, and compliance checks for safety/environmental standards.
• Investigate accidents, near-misses and unsafe conditions; prepare incident reports and corrective actions.
• Monitor waste management, emissions, and noise; ensure ISO 14001 compliance.
• Provide HSE induction and toolbox talks for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Coordinate permit-to-work with project managers; manage confined spaces, hot work, and working at heights.
• Ensure compliance with local labor laws, OSHA, NEBOSH, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Maintain HSE records, incident logs, training records, and audit reports; support drills.
• Assist with emergency preparedness, evacuation drills, and fire safety programs.
• Collaborate with HR and Training to develop competency in safety-critical roles; liaise with authorities and auditors.
