Job summary

Bilfinger is seeking an experienced HSE Consultant in Abu Dhabi to drive qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, fire protection system design, and hazard identification with a focus on process safety for the oil and gas sector.

You will lead projects, manage junior consultants, and ensure adherence to ADNOC/QatarEnergy standards and NFPA guidelines, interfacing with clients and project teams to deliver compliant safety solutions.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent experience with preference for Chemical/Petrochemical/Mechanical disciplines.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Oil and Gas sector.
• Familiarity with ADNOC/QatarEnergy standards and NFPA guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA) including consequence and frequency modelling.
• Perform consequence modelling, Fire Risk Assessments, flare radiation and vent dispersion analyses, and fire protection system design.
• Lead/execute projects related to flare radiation and active/passive fire protection.
• Interpret PFDs, P&IDs and HSE documentation for workshops.
• Prepare HAZID/ENVID/OHID/SIMOPS/PHSER/SIL/ALARP workshop materials.
• Utilise PHA-Pro, BowTieXP, Word and Excel in HSE workshops.
• Manage projects with junior HSE consultants.
• Review HSEIA studies including BowTie, EERA, ESSA, COMAH.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC AGES, NFPA, API, OGP and other international codes.
• Prepare proposals under DM guidance and interface with clients on process safety design.

Job Responsibilities:

• Experience in Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) studies, including consequence and frequency modelling tools and software (PHAST, SAFETI, Flaresim etc).
• Undertaking Consequence modelling, Fire Risk Assessments, Flare radiation and vent dispersion and fire protection system / detection system design.
• Execute the projects related to Flare radiation and vent dispersion and active/passive fire protection system.
• Strong understanding of key technical documents such as PFDs, P&IDs and shall be able to interpret HSE documents required for HSE workshops.
• Scribing for HAZID/ENVID/OHID, SIMOPS, PHSER, SIL, ALARP workshops.
• Familiarization with software tools such as PHA-Pro, BowTieXP, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and other relevant applications used in HSE workshops.
• Manage the project along with Junior HSE consultants
• Undertaking/reviewing the HSEIA studies including Bow tie, EERA, ESSA, COMAH studies, Safety case generation and ALARP demonstrations.
• Ensure the correct application of project procedures, engineering specifications and international codes and standards (ADNOC AGES, NFPA, API, OGP, etc.)
• Preparing proposals under direction of DM.
• Interface with Client on technical issues on process safety design.
• Interface with Project management team and client facing skills.

Basic Qualifications for HSE Consultant:

• Engineering degree, or equivalent in relevant experience (Preferably Chemical, Petrochemical, Mechanical Engineering)
• Familiarity with ADNOC/QatarEnergy Standards, international HSE codes and NFPA standards.
• Previous HSE Consultancy experience in Middle East (especially UAE, Qatar, Muscat).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience for Oil and gas sector.
• Proven ability to work across organizations with effective communication, leadership, and project management skills
• Proficient in typing skills with 90 words per minute
• Excellent presentation and written / oral communication skills
• Ability to work in a deadline-conscious, results-driven environment
