Responsibilities
- Manage the health, safety, and environmental arrangements for the project against the WSP HSEQ Management System requirements to ensure the protection of our people.
- Manage HSE Inspectors to ensure they monitor the implementation of health and safety arrangements at the project site level, in accordance with legal and client requirements.
- Develop and deliver health, safety, and environmental training to WSP employees, including but not limited to induction and safe working practices.
- Review and approve contractors' health, safety, and environmental plans, risk assessments, and method statements against legal and client requirements prior to work commencement.
- Plan daily morning site visits across project sites to ensure health and safety measures are in place before work begins.
- Carry out weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor personnel, ensuring all corrective and preventive actions are closed out.
- Organize HSE meetings with clients, WSP project staff, and contractors.
- Initiate and test emergency response plans and ensure drills are conducted as per the project schedule and performance standards.
- Follow up on contractor incident investigation reports, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and provide technical guidance for accident prevention.
- Conduct regular site safety reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in a similar HSE leadership role, preferably within the construction or engineering industry.
- In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, particularly in the Middle East region.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- NEBOSH or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Should hold SCE in Health & Safety domain.
