Qualifications

Job description

Responsibilities

  • Manage the health, safety, and environmental arrangements for the project against the WSP HSEQ Management System requirements to ensure the protection of our people.
  • Manage HSE Inspectors to ensure they monitor the implementation of health and safety arrangements at the project site level, in accordance with legal and client requirements.
  • Develop and deliver health, safety, and environmental training to WSP employees, including but not limited to induction and safe working practices.
  • Review and approve contractors' health, safety, and environmental plans, risk assessments, and method statements against legal and client requirements prior to work commencement.
  • Plan daily morning site visits across project sites to ensure health and safety measures are in place before work begins.
  • Carry out weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor personnel, ensuring all corrective and preventive actions are closed out.
  • Organize HSE meetings with clients, WSP project staff, and contractors.
  • Initiate and test emergency response plans and ensure drills are conducted as per the project schedule and performance standards.
  • Follow up on contractor incident investigation reports, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and provide technical guidance for accident prevention.
  • Conduct regular site safety reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in a similar HSE leadership role, preferably within the construction or engineering industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, particularly in the Middle East region.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • NEBOSH or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
  • Should hold SCE in Health & Safety domain.
