Job summary

DOUGLAS OHI - L.L.C - O.P.C in Abu Dhabi is seeking an HSE Advisor to integrate health, safety and environmental requirements into all project activities from construction to commissioning. You will lead the HSE Management System, advise on compliance, and promote safe working practices across the site.

The role requires NEBOSH Diploma and strong knowledge of safety legislation. You will conduct risk assessments, participate in toolbox talks, train staff, and prepare monthly safety reports while

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety or Environmental Studies (desirable).
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (essential).
  • Strong knowledge of safety legislation and codes of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Identify site hazards and update the site-specific HSE Plan accordingly.
  • Maintain the HSE Management System and Project HSE Plan as living documents.
  • Initiate the HSE Case, defining its scope, cost, resources, interfaces, and responsibilities.
  • Act as the HSE liaison between departments and the Project Manager.
  • Promote proactive HSE management practices among staff and subcontractors.
  • Provide technical HSE input, including ALARP and HEMP.
  • Implement health and safety strategies tailored to operational risks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop operational procedures to mitigate hazards.
  • Lead site inspections ensuring safety policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Deliver in-house training sessions for management and workers on health and safety risks.
  • Keep records of inspections, incidents, and statistics; generate reports and recommendations.
  • Stay updated on health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Develop and issue monthly reports, newsletters, and bulletins.
  • Manage and coordinate the safe disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Provide advice on specialist areas such as fire safety, noise, machinery safeguarding, and occupational health.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the reporting manager.

Purpose

Summary of the Job Role

Responsible for overseeing developing promoting implementing administering and maintaining the DOHI HSE ManagementSystem based on the adaptation ofrecognized HSE standards and bestpractices The role includes Advising the company on HSE compliance Interpreting the principles of duty ofcare in the workplace Facilitating safety consultations throughToolbox Talks TBT Guiding on applying general principles ofprevention outlined in the HSE-MS Communicating health and safetymessages across the workforce Monitoring site safety and conducting staff safety training Influencing and supporting line management in HSE leadership Initiating regular site inspections with workers safety representatives Participating in HSE consultations to maximize effectiveness Monitoring accident and incident data internally Liaising with the Project Manager and Client on all HSE matters Conducting accident investigations and preparing detailed reports Authorities Encourage safety awareness throughout project operations Liaise with the Project Manager and Client HSE Department on all HSE aspects of the contract Ensure the contract-specific HSE Plan is effectively communicated and implemented

Key Outputs

The HSE Advisor is responsible for:
