Qualifications

• Experience as tailor or similar role preferred.
• Knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques, alterations, repairs, finishing methods.
• Ability to take accurate measurements and interpret alteration instructions.
• Proficient with sewing machines, hand-sewing tools, irons, and related equipment.
• Understanding of fabrics and care for delicate or specialised materials.

Responsibilities

• Alter, repair, and finish garments according to instructions, measurements, and specifications.
• Take accurate body and garment measurements and confirm alteration requirements.
• Fit garments and adjust for a comfortable, professional finish.
• Perform sewing tasks by hand or machine (hemming, stitching, seams, buttons, fastenings).
• Assess fabrics to determine suitable alteration methods.
• Work with various fabrics and construction techniques while protecting delicate materials.
• Complete work within agreed timeframes and prioritise requests.
• Check garments for fit, finish, cleanliness, and quality before delivery.
• Handle garments with care, maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
• Keep work areas and equipment clean, tidy, and properly maintained.
• Report faults or maintenance needs and monitor supplies for replenishment.
• Follow garment handling, labeling, storage, collection, and delivery procedures.
• Communicate professionally and seek clarification when needed.
• Follow health, safety, and manual handling procedures.
• Perform other tailoring duties as assigned.
