The Healthcare Data Scientist will convert complex healthcare information into practical intelligence used by clinical leaders, finance teams, operations, revenue cycle management, quality functions, and senior executives. Working across healthcare reporting, predictive analytics, data visualisation, and machine learning, the role will help identify performance gaps, forecast demand, optimise patient pathways, strengthen revenue cycle visibility, and support better clinical and operational decisions. A strong understanding of real‑world healthcare environments is central to the position. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with data generated by hospitals, clinics, medical centres, healthcare groups, insurers, and electronic health record systems rather than relying solely on academic or laboratory research experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse clinical, operational, financial, claims, pharmacy, patient activity, and healthcare utilisation datasets to identify meaningful trends and improvement opportunities.
- Translate complex healthcare information into clear recommendations that support patient outcomes, facility performance, and management decision‑making.
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards for clinical, operational, financial, and executive reporting.
- Build Tableau visualisations that allow stakeholders to monitor healthcare KPIs, trends, service utilisation, and performance indicators.
- Prepare executive‑level summaries and management reports that convert analytical findings into practical business actions.
- Develop SQL queries for healthcare data extraction, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and analytical reporting.
- Build and evaluate predictive models supporting healthcare forecasting, utilisation planning, operational improvement, and clinical decision support.
- Apply statistical analysis and machine learning techniques where they can improve forecasting accuracy or uncover meaningful healthcare patterns.
- Support patient pathway optimisation by analysing activity, utilisation, treatment patterns, and service demand.
- Conduct revenue cycle analytics covering operational performance, healthcare claims, service utilisation, and related financial measures.
- Work with EHR data, claims information, pharmacy records, clinical datasets, and patient activity data from multiple healthcare systems.
- Monitor operational and clinical KPIs and highlight emerging risks, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Partner with clinical leadership, Finance, Operations, Quality, and Revenue Cycle Management teams to define analytical requirements and deliver relevant insights.
- Strengthen healthcare data quality by identifying inconsistencies, missing information, integration issues, and reporting discrepancies.
- Support data governance initiatives covering healthcare data accuracy, accessibility, consistency, security, and appropriate usage.
- Work with healthcare terminology and interoperability standards including ICD‑10, ICD‑11, CPT, SNOMED CT, HL7, and FHIR.
- Contribute to analytics initiatives involving the DHA healthcare data ecosystem and NABIDH where applicable.
- Ensure healthcare analytics activities support relevant UAE data governance and regulatory requirements.
- Present analytical findings clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and explain the operational implications of identified trends.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor 's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of practical experience working directly with healthcare datasets.
- Current residence within the United Arab Emirates.
- Professional experience gained within hospitals, clinics, healthcare groups, medical centres, healthcare providers, or health insurance organizations.
- Advanced hands‑on capability with Power BI for dashboard development, healthcare KPI reporting, and management analytics.
- Strong Tableau experience for interactive visualisation and business intelligence reporting.
- Advanced SQL skills for querying, transforming, validating, and analysing complex healthcare datasets.
- Practical experience using Python or R for statistical analysis, predictive modelling, automation, or machine learning.
- Experience preparing executive, clinical, operational, and financial healthcare reports.
- Demonstrated exposure to clinical data, EHR data, claims data, pharmacy information, revenue cycle data, and patient activity records.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare operations and the way clinical and administrative information flows across care environments.
- Ability to communicate analytical findings confidently to clinicians, operational leaders, finance stakeholders, and senior management.
- Predictive modelling and machine learning experience is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of NABIDH and the DHA healthcare data ecosystem would provide a strong advantage.
- Healthcare insurance analytics and revenue cycle analytics experience are valuable.
- Familiarity with ICD‑10, ICD‑11, CPT, SNOMED CT, HL7, and FHIR is strongly preferred.
