Job summary

Arootah, a talent solutions firm for the alternative investment industry, seeks a Head Trader/Director of Trading to lead day-to-day desk operations for client assets. You will oversee trading, develop policies, manage broker relationships, and ensure regulatory compliance across asset classes.

Requirements: Bachelor's in Economics/Finance or related field, 10+ years as Head Trader or Director, strong Python skills, knowledge of OMS/EMS, TCA research, and experience with Tableau or Power BI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, CS or related field.
• 10+ years as Head Trader or Director of Trading for an Alternative Asset Firm or Family Office.
• In-depth understanding of global markets, exchanges, and regulatory environments.
• Familiarity with compliance and risk management policies regarding best execution.
• Demonstrated knowledge of OMS, EMS, and TCA research.
• Strong programming skills, preferably in Python.
• Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Knowledge of statistics/econometrics and experience working with large data sets.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice to clients on trading desk infrastructure and operations.
• Conduct best practice reviews and develop action plans.
• Advise on vendor selection, oversight, and policy creation.
• Manage day-to-day trading desk oversight, including relationships and negotiations.
• Develop and implement trade execution policies across asset classes and ensure compliance.
• Oversee full trade lifecycle from inception to post-trade analysis.
• Collaborate with Portfolio and Risk Managers on risk management and profitability.
• Design trading architecture, policies, and broker evaluation processes.
• Assist Portfolio Managers with rebalancing, cash management, and asset allocation.
• Utilize algorithms and AI trading programs for liquidity sourcing.
• Communicate market insights via verbal and written pieces.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice to Alternative Asset Firm and Family Office clients on trading desk infrastructure and operations
• Conduct best practice reviews and develop effective action plans
• Advise on vendor selection, oversight, and the creation of policies, procedures, and control measures
• Manage all aspects of day-to-day trading desk oversight, including sell-side relationships and trade commission negotiations
• Develop and implement trade execution policies across different asset classes, ensuring compliance with regulations
• Manage the full trade lifecycle from inception to post-trade analysis
• Oversee trading positions, risk management, and profitable operations in collaboration with Portfolio and Risk Managers
• Design trade architecture, trading policies, and broker evaluation processes
• Assist Portfolio Managers with rebalancing, cash management, and asset allocation
• Utilize software and liquidity sourcing methods including algorithms and AI trading programs
• Communicate market insights via verbal and written thought pieces
