Job summary

GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail seeks an outstanding Head of Year 12 from August 2027 to lead the Year 12 cohort and drive both academic and pastoral development. The role focuses on establishing routines, high expectations and a supportive environment where pupils gain confidence, independence and positive attitudes to learning.

The Head of Year 12 will oversee wellbeing, monitor progress, coordinate interventions and support form tutors, while maintaining strong communication with parents

Responsibilities

• Lead the pastoral care and wellbeing of the Year 12 cohort.
• Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and engagement.
• Monitor academic progress and coordinate interventions where needed.
• Support and line manage Year 12 form tutors.
• Build strong relationships with parents and communicate effectively.
• Promote a positive year group culture through enrichment and student participation.
• Track attendance, behaviour and wellbeing, ensuring timely support.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding and compliance.
• Contribute to whole-school priorities and initiatives.

The Head of Year 12 leads the academic and pastoral development of students in their first year of secondary school. The role focuses on establishing strong routines, high expectations and a supportive environment where pupils develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes to learning.
