Job summary

LEAMS Education, Dubai, seeks an outstanding Head of Secondary to lead the secondary wing of its British-curriculum school. The role requires turnaround leadership with a track record of excellence and a strong focus on teaching, learning, and pastoral care.

The Head of Secondary will drive vision, policies, and KPIs, support KHDA inspections, and ensure high standards in academics, safeguarding, and stakeholder collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience in a senior school leadership team (Head/Deputy Head of Secondary)
• Masters degree in an education-related field preferred
• Experience developing teacher skills and competencies through sustained school improvement plans and continuous professional development

Responsibilities

• Contribute to strategic leadership as a Senior Leadership Team member reporting to the Principal
• Uphold the school's vision and mission and support leadership to elevate performance
• Oversee day-to-day operations and all academic affairs of the Secondary wing
• Ensure understanding and application of UK curriculum, IGCSE, AS & A level standards
• Contribute to school improvement plans and self-evaluation of teaching and learning
• Supervise instructional programs, evaluate lesson plans, and observe classes regularly
• Demonstrate best-practice pedagogy and uphold safeguarding policies
• Maintain high standards of discipline, attendance, and stakeholder relations
• Lead curriculum development alignment with assessment practices and data triangulation
• Align UAE cultural guidelines with National Agenda and drive engagement
• Prepare KHDA inspections & audits information; liaise with governing body and inspectors
• Lead performance management of Secondary staff

We are looking for an outstanding Head of Secondary to start from August 2024 or sooner. This role is for an exceptional leader who demonstrates a high level of turnaround leadership competencies with a proven track record and is an exciting opportunity to lead the secondary wing of our wellreputed British curriculum school into excellence. The Head of the Secondary will be responsible for supporting the schools Vision and Mission as well as all policies teaching and learning outcomes and pastoral care.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the strategic leadership of the school as a member of the Senior Leadership Teamdirectly reporting to the Principal.
• Upholding the vision & mission of the school and supporting the Principal to take the school to the next level.
• To hold responsibility and accountability for dayto-day operations and all academic affairs of the Secondary wing.
• Excellent understanding of UK curriculum IGCSE AS & A level board examination assessment standards.
• Contributing to the school improvement plans and selfevaluation of the teaching and learning within the school.
• Supervise the instructional programs of the school evaluating lesson plans and observing classes regularly.
• Able to demonstrate a comprehensive and confident knowledge of best practice pedagogy.
• Supervise fairly and consistently effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards consistent with the philosophy values and mission of the school adhering to child safeguarding policy.
• Display the highest ethical and professional behavioral standards when working with students parents and all stakeholders.
• Foster a learning environment leading to continuous improvement in academic excellence and holistic education.
• Develop innovative engaging and challenging learning designs that actively boost the competency and capabilities of the leadership team.
• Encourage alignment of Teaching Learning and Assessment practices with instructional and delivery methods to meet performance improvement standards.
• Imbibe and enhance UAE culture in the school in line with the guidelines and regulations of the National Agenda Parameter.
• Ensure high levels of team member engagement and commitment to new initiatives.
• Liaise with the Curriculum and Assessment team to provide uptodate information on curriculum development & triangulation of data; progress and attainment in all performance indicators.
• Prepare all supporting information for the KHDA inspections & audits as advised by the Principal and liaise with the school governing body and DSIB inspectors as necessary.
• Leadership and performance management of staff in the Secondary wing.
• Protect the confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising professional duties and use discretion in sharing such information within legal confines.

To be considered for this role the candidate must be:

• An effective and dynamic leader with a minimum of 3 years experience in a senior school leadership team having experience as a Head/Deputy Head of Secondary; preferably a Masters degree in an educationrelated field.
• Experienced in developing teachers skills and competencies through sustained school improvement plans and continuous professional development training.
• Proven track record in the development design and of learning and development training programs and delivery of live and online workshops.
• Additionally should have experience measuring the effectiveness of training including diagnosing and understanding the needs for training.
• A thought leader in learning leadership keep abreast of industry trends to ensure bestinclass solutions.
• Able to demonstrate a commitment to inclusion.
• UAE school experience of the DSIB Inspection Frameworks is highly desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills & Team building skills.
• Ability to remain calm and be solutionoriented in highstress situations.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
