Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
• Strong experience with BESS/PV integration and grid-support technologies.
• Hands-on knowledge of grid-forming and weak-grid applications.
• Experience with RMS/EMT simulations and PSCAD, PSS/E, PowerFactory, ETAP or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with RTDS/RT-LAB or HIL testing is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical activities integrating BESS and PV inverter systems into networks.
• Develop grid-connection solutions per Grid Codes and international standards.
• Provide SME input on Grid Forming, inertia support, and frequency/voltage control.
• Lead RMS and EMT power system studies, model development and validation.
• Oversee simulations using PSCAD, PSS/E, PowerFactory, ETAP or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Support or lead HIL/real-time testing using RTDS/RT-LAB and interface with customers.

Job description

Taylor Hopkinson is working with a leading global technology provider specialising in BESS, solar and advanced grid integration solutions across the Gulf region.

We are seeking a senior power systems professional with strong experience across BESS/PV integration, grid-forming technology, power system studies and customer-facing technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical activities relating to the integration of BESS and PV inverter systems into national and utility-scale power networks.
• Develop grid connection solutions in line with applicable Grid Codes and international standards.
• Provide technical expertise in Grid Forming, Virtual Synchronous Machine, inertia support, frequency/voltage control and black start applications, particularly in weak grids.
• Lead and supervise RMS and EMT power system studies, including model development, validation and technical review.
• Oversee simulation activities using tools such as PSCAD, PSS E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Support or lead HIL/real-time testing using platforms such as RTDS or RT-LAB.
• Act as the technical interface between R&D, engineering, sales and customers.
• Support technical proposals, feasibility studies, customer presentations and business development activities.
• Engage with utilities, TSOs, DSOs, developers, IPPs and other senior stakeholders.
• Provide SME support, mentor engineers and contribute to technical best practice.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Power Electronics or a related discipline.
• Strong experience with PCS/inverter controls, BESS, PV integration and grid-support technologies.
• Demonstrable knowledge of Grid Forming and weak-grid applications.
• Experience with RMS/EMT simulations and preferably hands-on experience with PSCAD, PSS E, PowerFactory, ETAP or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Experience with RTDS/RT-LAB or HIL testing is advantageous.
• Good understanding of battery technology, degradation and BESS sizing.
• Utility/TSO/DSO experience and GCC market exposure are highly desirable.
• Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder-management skills.
• Commercially minded, with the ability to translate complex technical solutions into customer and business value.
